My own soft intro to anime was Kiki’s Delivery Service, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Princess Mononoke. My more official introduction to the world of anime was the Toonami Era of Cartoon Network. Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (BEST MSG series, don’t @ me), Sailor Moon, and to a lesser degree Inuyasha. Shortly thereafter was when I really found stuff that I loved in Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star.

What first made you jump into anime?

Hey Andrew! To be completely honest with you, I am not really much of an anime fan. However, I thought it would be enjoyable to respond and spark a small conversation. The first anime that I watched was Yu-Gi-Oh! and Naruto on Toonami! I know these aren’t the most authentic anime shows, but they did catch my interest and I enjoy watching clips of them from time to time. While I’m not a big fan of anime like some people that I know, I can say that I truly appreciate the works of art that are created.

Naruto and Yu-Gi-Oh! are absolutely both anime, so for them to have been your first is nothing to shake a stick at. I watched the entire original YGO series (played the hell out of the card game as well) and have seen Naruto from Ep.1 all the way through the completion of Shippuden. Thanks for participating!

When I was dating my wife, she was really into Naruto, so she eventually got me to start watching it as well. It was the first anime I had ever seen, and I really enjoyed it a lot! My wife and I still watch lots of anime together, currently watching Vinland Sagas.

I turned on Cartoon Network when I got home and Some chicks were basically naked turning into Sailor Scouts. it was that day I discovered Toonami and Anime. However, basically the only ones I have watched are Sailor Moon Yu-gi-oh and Dragon Ball (Z Super Regular) unless you count pokemon too

Old school Toonami was pretty great!

My introduction to anime was Sword Art Online! I love that show so much!

Toonami The Midnight Run and Toonami The Rising Sun were straight-up legendary!

I’ve only watched some of Sword Art Online. It was pretty reminiscent of .hack, and I prefer to stick with that, though some of the designs were pretty darn cool.

They used to get played in the mornings on weekdays when i was going to school

My First introduction was Voltron and it never stopped from there. There’s some I love and some I don’t, but it’s still good stuff.

First was Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (2004 version), back when small, independent DVD rental shops specializing in foreign films existed.
            It blew my mind.

Next was Appleseed: Ex Machina – loved it.

My introduction to anime was mostly either DBZ on toonami, (Even though I was very little.) Or mostly, the fox dub of My Neighbor Totoro.

            Spirited Away (the Disney version).

Very first one was Dragon Ball but i didn’t get to watch it very much because it came on super early and got to watch maybe 10 or few minutes before i had to go to school.   But from the little i saw i liked it more than most American cartoons.
