Virginia: I think Timothy Olyphant is a great actor, so I’m sure he’ll be good in whatever role they have for him. I can also imagine him slipping into the show’s sci-fi/Western backdrop well. Beyond that, of course, I am somewhat curious to see who he’ll be playing and if it will be a larger role or a cameo.

Brett: I have to be honest; there was a part of me that was just a little disappointed when I read this news, if only because he’s my top choice to play Revan down the road. That being said, the Western vibe will fit Timothy Olyphant like a glove. I can’t help but wonder if he’s going to play one of the characters they want to spin off. I’d love to see him leading his own Star Wars show every week.

V: In turn, I’ll admit that I don’t know much about Revan, as well as most characters who were introduced in the Extended Universe. I’ve never been a big reader, and I only really became aware of the EU a few years ago, by which point Disney had de-canonized it. I am curious to experience some of those stories, particularly as some of the EU characters remain quite popular. I believe Darth Revan was originally intended to appear in The Clone Wars with Darth Bane in Yoda’s story arc about Force ghosts. It’s kind of sad this didn’t happen, as it would have canonized him, like what happened with Darth Bane, Asajj Ventress, and, of course, Grand Admiral Thrawn.

B: That would’ve been really cool, but the upshot here is that they could put him in anywhere along the timeline and instantly up the stakes. In any case, I’m really glad to see Olyphant’s going to be on the show. It seems to be embracing the Western archetype for which people know him, so I’m excited to see what he’s going to do here.

V: That’s true. Much like how Dave Filoni brought Thrawn back into the fold with Rebels, anyone could re-introduce other characters down the road.

B: This is true. As with Ahsoka, Bo Katan, and, potentially, Jimmy Smits’ Bail Organa in the Rogue One show, anyone can come back to the galaxy far, far away. No matter who Timothy Olyphant plays, I have no doubt the actor will be a worthy addition to George Lucas’s legendary universe.

 V: Since you mentioned him, what do you think of Organa’s inclusion in the Cassian Andor series? I like the character of Bail Organa and the actor, but I’m indifferent towards the series as a whole. I didn’t care for Rogue One or those characters. I will watch the show out of curiosity, and maybe it’ll be good.

B: Well, besides the fact that I totally think I can see the future, as I called it back when the show was first announced, I’m really happy. Whether it’s Miguel Prado on Dexter or Bobby Simone on NYPD Blue, Smits’ performances are positively magnetic, and should this come to pass, I’m excited to see him interact with Andor some more.

V: It’ll be interesting to see how that series shapes up.
