We’ve all been there. We get 12, maybe 24 episodes of a show that still has plenty of manga source material, and after one or two seasons we don’t get anymore. This leaves us the only option of going to the manga to finish the story. That is not the most terrible thing, but given my druthers, I prefer to see my favorite series moving on the screen.
So what shows are on your list that you wish would come back with still so much story to tell?
Two of the ones I’d like to see continued in animation form right now are:
The Heroic Legend of Arslon: I always wanted this to get a full series after I saw the two OAVs in the 90’s. So when this got a new lease I was so excited. After Dust Storm Dance I was sure we’d keep getting more, but it’s been years. I’ve held off on going to the manga in hopes it comes back.
Yona of the Dawn: This one was surprisingly fun, and just as the entire main group comes together…bam…no more episodes. Manga is going strong, so there is alway hope.
EDIT: Okay, title changed because some people are not realizing this is in the anime forum.

Most shows go on too long.. But I think Batman Beyond got cut short. That was a great show.
Dragonball Super, the manga continues after the tournament, where the show ended.
I think I remember hearing a year or so ago they wanted to roll out another movie before the next series project. Don’t make me swear on that, though. I have no memory of where I read it.
As you can see by my profile pic, i really like Digimon. One of the things i loved about the original Digimon Adventure’s that as they continued the seasons the characters would grow up with you, that’s something i wish they would’ve done for Digimon Frontier too as that’s one of my favorite seasons and was my introduction to Digimon
Another anime i would’ve liked to see more of’s Zatch Bell, i think the japanese version of the show’s compleat,, though i don’t know how it compares to the manga, still, i was sad that the english version stopped after season 2
There was WAY more story after the anime ended. Zatch Bell getting a completed anime run would be nice. Those are battles that really played out well on screen.
Oh yeah, there is quite a few:
Spice and Wolf. That was quite unique idea, but perhaps thats why it got 2 seasons (in a way that it was boring or something). I am currently collecting all light novels.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It was quite a hit, not sure why hey dont do it anymore. They adapted like only half of the light novels, but damn even novels are right now out of print, especially the last 2 ones, so its quite hard to collect right now.
School Rumble. This anime was so hilarious. Too bad they adapted only the ending of the manga and completely skipped 3rd season.
Great Teacher Onizuka. I am not sure, but manga has a lot of volumes and anime ends with no real closure, so I guess there must be more.
The Knight in the Area and Over Drive. Very much enjoyed those two sports anime, quite interesting, but nobody even translates the manga, so I cant get closure.
In regards to Haruhi I believe “Endless Eight” killed any and all enthusiasm for the series outside of the most dedicated of fans. It’s one of those “What were they thinking?!” moments as people had been waiting years for Season 2 only for half of it to be taken up by story content that recycled itself over and over. You can only push people’s patience so far.
As for myself, I’d like to see a Berserk anime after the Golden Age which does the manga justice. Ignore Berserk 2016 and start again.
Honestly, I never got the whole Haruhi thing. Nothing about that show ever appealed to me. I have to admit, though, that if everyone is screaming to the heavens how awesome something is I tend to want to ignore it.
this is about anime, not live action, just a heads up, hence why it’s in the anime forum.
For me it was the characters and their development, dialogues, comedy aspect and music. There is no overall plot for quite a while yea, so i understand why people might not like it.
Yea, that Endless Eight was annoying, but then they made “The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya” which was fantastic and was about 3 hr long, so after that I didnt mind Endless Eight that much.
Yup, those battles were awesome! Who’s you’re favorite character? Mine’s Brago
