Honestly? Never really thought about it this way. Back in 2014 I remember thinking game journo’s and SJW’s may had a point about sexism/racism but were simply barking up the wrong tree: Outside of a few assholes with a massive chip on their shoulder the gaming community was one of the most inclusive I’ve known. But given everything that’s happened between now and then this just makes more sense: These people wanted us divided and at each others throats. They wanted to politicize gaming because politics is all that’s important to them. And to an extent, they’ve succeeded. A significant number communities went woke, attack any members that dared to dissent and ended up creating some hard-right reactionaries in response. Gamergate won the battle but they went on to win the war. I lost a lot of online friends to this woke-virus.
