I really like it. Even though the actors for the original voices have criticised the reasons for their replacement by cheaper actors.
I do miss hearing Frank Welker and Peter Cullen in those roles but I enjoyed the overall look and tone of the series. I find it intriguing that in some scenes, Optimus’ subordinates are questioning his leadership. I like the comparisons between Megatron and Optimus and how the narrative is based off of their view points. Megatron doesn’t see himself as evil and that he’s doing what he feels is right for Cybertron and he blame’s Optimus for the prolonged war. It’s quite a moralistic story. The mix of old G1 and cybertron body/vehicle styles is visually appealing. I definitely love how mature it is; bots actually dying, changing allegiances, making moral sacrifices, etc.
I can’t wait for Chapter 2 to release.
Do we know when Chapter releases?
Some folks have criticized the voice acting and I agree that in some cases, the characters feel like they lack energy. I’ve recently gone back to watch the previous Transformers trilogy (Combiner Wars, Titans Return, Power of the Primes) and in many cases it is extremely difficult to understand what some of those characters are saying, due to the techno effects they added to the voices. Plus the bots look like they move way too slow in those versions.
