Good Controller for N64 Emulation

I know not many people are fond of emulation(Or I assume so), I’m not really myself. But there are instances where I’ll emulate a game, say to mod a game or add texture packs. Games like The Missing Link rom hack for Ocarina of Time are ripe to be playing right now. I was trying to find a decent controller in my house to use for N64 emulation, because I just can’t stand using modern controllers for games that require 6 face buttons. Then I remembered I had this thing. It’s a Mad Catz Street Fighter V fight pad. It’s not at all a good fighting controller, imo. However, for N64 emulation, it’s perfect. 6 face buttons, a D-pad and an analog stick. This is mostly an alternative if you don’t have an adapter for a real N64 controller, which I don’t have at the moment.

In order to use the trigger and shoulder buttons as well as the front r1 and r2 face buttons, you’ll want to flip the switch at the top to R3, L3, L1 and L2. This is mainly used for fighting games, but works perfectly with Project 64. This way, you’ll have all six face buttons as their own inputs, and the shoulder and trigger as another set of buttons because they’re acting as the L1 and L2 buttons, while the actual L1 and L2 buttons are acting as L3 and R3. I’m planning to get an adapter for my Retro Fighters Brawler 64 controller, so this is just a hold over until I get that. That being said, I’m impressed this works as well as it does, which is why I wanted to pass this along to anyone who’s interested. In theory, this could probably work great with Sega Genesis too.
