They wanted to make a monster film, without the Big Famous Monsters.
The original Trailer:
I played Monster Hunter World for a few months when it dropped on PS4. It was fun, and I liked recognizing the big beasties in the trailer.
I appreciate it that conventional weapons didn’t do shit to the monsters. I hate it when a fantasy show/movie has guns and stuff be uber superior to the genre weaponry and spells.
I smiled at Mila using the dual wield swords/daggers…cuz that was my weapon of choice in MHW.
In the end, my assessment is that this will be a lose yourself for an hour or so popcorn movie. I’ll watch it once, probably enjoy that period of time for the escapism it provides, and never watch it again.
Pure escapism without the SJW BS.
That is why I enjoy some of those older scf-fi/fantasy films.
Sure the FX might not have aged well and it might be dated, but then it is for the film as a whole I enjoy.
The problem with this movie is it’s just Paul Anderson using another Capcom game as an excuse to show off his wife while doubly not understanding the source material. Monster Hunter is not in the same level as Godzilla, Gamera, etc. Sure, beasts like Rathalos, Diablos and the more dinosaur-like Glavenus and Anjanath are fantastical in a real world sense, but other than the elder dragons most of the creatures in Monster Hunter’s setting are meant to be treated as wild animals. Very powerful animals, but animals nonetheless that would get obliterated by modern machine guns and rockets (with the probable exception of elder dragons like Fatalis, Dire Miralis, Gogmazios, etc). Now if this were a film taking place during the fall of Schrade where the black dragon Fatalis burned everything down and had knights and stuff, then that could work. But besides that it’s just a knockoff of the anime Gate with Monster Hunter being used as a prop. Could it possibly be a fun movie? I dunno. I hated Anderson’s Resident Evil films so at best it could be shlock that’ll be fun to laugh at and then forget about within a week.
As one who is not familiar with the source material, would that help the movie goer?
I know games to film success ratio not so good, but it sure looks a hell of a lot better than past films like Super Mario-Bros., Spaced Invaders, etc.
There’s a Space Invaders movie?? 👾
Well, there was Pixels. *BARF*
Cool 🤩
“Prepare to die, Earth scum! Prepare to die, Earth Scum! I’m gonna make sure they write that on your tombstone!”
For years scientist have speculated that there was intelligent life in outer space, now comes definitive proof that there is no such thing
I watched Spaced Invaders last night 👽 and they are more intelligent than most humans i know 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pure simple fun.
Entertainment sure be just that… entertaining.
And not preaching propaganda BS that is hell-y-weird of today.
