Baby Yoda Has a Name! The Mandalorian Reveals Beloved Character’s True Moniker
Baby Yoda has a name!
The true moniker behind The Mandalorian’s adorable green alien, also known as The Child, was revealed to be Grogu in Disney+’s Star Wars series’ latest season 2 episode, “The Jedi.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, the episode also revealed that Grogu used to live on Coruscant and was trained at the Jedi Temple before he was ushered into hiding when the Empire came to power.
Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) explained that Grogu’s memory became “dark” once he went into hiding, which leads her character to decide not to train Grogu because of the anger inside him after years of exile. Instead, Tano suggests that Mando (Pedro Pascal) take Grogu to the Jedi Temple on Tython and see if any of the remaining Jedi take him, EW reported.
So, a former Jedi Apprentice would rather have a force sensitive with “dark” memories grow with those “dark” emotions? She knew of Anakin’s “dark” side, so deciding that her experience with seeing first hand what those “dark” feelings can lead to, decided it was best to seen the Child away on yet another goose chase to see it any “Jedi” would want to continue training the 50 year old?
Sure sounds like another Luke (you are too old) scenario here.
Besides, don’t you think Yoda of all people would sense the CHILD still being alive, one of his own species, and train the CHILD while in exile?
And would you not think the Empire would not know of any “jedi temples” in the galaxy?
Would they not have all be destroyed? With a permanent detachment of Stormtroopers there?
BTW: When I first say the name, I thought Goku?
I heard Goku as well. Total facepalm.
AssHoka couldnt train him anyway she is a exiled Padawan. She is not a master she aint even a jedi. This is just another further example of the rat franchise hating on Luke Skywalker for no purpose other than he is male.
To Legatus’s points:
Yes, Ahsoka would rather him live his life on his own than train him and see him fall to the dark side because of those dark memories. This was the Jedi way prior to their fall, not training anyone over a certain age, and what the Council attempted to do with Anakin after seeing his fear. As Lucas has stated in the past, if a Force user does not actively use the Force, their ability to control it will disappear with time. This is what Ahsoka knew would happen to Grogu without any additional training. It is only after Mando asks Ahsoka again to train him that she tells him to go to the Jedi Temple. Who knows, she might be telling him to go there already knowing it has been destroyed and no one will answer. We’ll have to wait and see.
As for why didn’t Yoda train him, the same question could be asked about any force sensitive child who was young around the years of the the Clone War and during his 20 year exile. He could have trained any number of them. Remember, Obi-Wan had to convince him to even teach Luke, one of the most Force sensitive people in the universe at that time. The answer to this is simply, we will never know. Another side effect of creating the Trilogies out of order I suppose.
To Dragonbane’s:
You said so yourself, Ahsoka could not train him, so she is assumedly sending him to someone who is. Some people think this will be Luke Skywalker. If this is the case, the show is telling the audience Luke can train Grogu when Ahsoka cannot. How is this hating on Luke because he is a man exactly?
If she was sending Not Yoda to Luke she would have said Yavin 4. But since the rat hates all men and Cowgirl Dafve seems to think he knows better than George it will be answered by some random chick no one knows of. Or worse someone isnt a jedi either but was created by Cowgirl Dave too.
As of now, i see 3 possible Jedi who could meet Mando and Grogu on Tython:
1) Ahsoka’ll be waiting for them on Thyton not having completely given up on training Grogu
2) Luke’ll sense Grogu and come and train him
3) There is another Jedi that is alive and could be ready to take on a padawan, and is also connected to a possible future Star Wars series and a certain bad guy who was name dropped in this latest Mando episode…
There is no reason to believe Luke is on Yavin 4 right now. He could be anywhere in the galaxy.
^^THAT FUCK IS NO JEDI.
When gone am I the last of the Jedi will you be; pass on what you have learned.
Cowgirl Daves fake characters are not jedi.
You don’t have to like the character for them to be a jedi
GROOOOOGU
One has to be trained by a fucking jedi to become a jedi.
The failed padawan cant train jedi. That show had two of them. Neither could train jedi.
Agree to disagree :3
