I was never a fan of Berserk, but I respected it as a franchise.

This is every fan’s worst case scenario of a beloved franchise…the author passing on before the work is completed. I hope for the sake of Berserk fans that Miura left notes behind for whoever may take over to finish it as intended.

I had the worst insomnia of my life than I wake up to this terrible news. Dammit, this really pisses me off. Yeah, Miura took a lot of breaks but Berserk is one of the best things to ever happen to manga. I love his monster designs especially the God Hand.

I hope for the sake of Berserk fans that Miura left notes behind for whoever may take over to finish it as intended.

That would be nice but I feel like he’s the last of his kind

Sill feeling blue about all this.

Miura was a legend and Berserk’s storyline was among the best of its medium.

It really begs the question what happens to Berserk now as a property. I see people saying that hopefully Miura might’ve left notes for his assistants or an anime studio might attempt to pick up where he left off, but there’s always the risk that someone won’t get the message that Miura was trying to tell and deliver something that’s sub-par or just isn’t as good. Is it better to have no ending at all than one that is totally hollow and misses the point? Berserk might not just feel like the same story at all without Miura behind the pen.

I feel like the only way it could be done right if it was a joint effort by the Berserk community (preferably Japanese-only). Also, I’m so used to cliffhangers at this point that I almost accept the story being unfinished.

        It’s the next best thing.

I can’t really assume to know Miura’s relationship with his assistants, but his ailing health has been known for a while and it’s likely they’ve prepared for something like this to happen.

If Berserk continues, there’s always going to be that lingering impression of how Miura might’ve done it differently (my chief concern is the characters intricacies: It’s one thing to know these characters, but it’s another to understand them): It’s awfully big boots to fill in, after all. But I think he would’ve wanted Berserk to have a proper ending, even it meant he wouldn’t live to see it happen..
