What was this movie?

Can anyone please tell me the title of this movie? I saw a bit of it back when I was a kid when I was flicking through channels on TV but since then I have no idea what the movie is called.

The parts of the movie I saw were about this teenager getting the news from his mom and dad that they are all from another planet and that his family needs to leave Earth and go back home. The teenager gets depressed that he has to leave Earth along with his parents to go back to a planet he barely remembers and he has to leave his friends along with this girl he likes.

I remember in one scene the teenager is reading an Ironman comic or some superhero comic then raises out his hand in the air trying to shoot out a beam of energy out because he thought since he was an alien from another planet he had super powers along with it then his dad walked into the room and said to his son that he didn’t have super powers.

Then there was the ending of the movie where the teenager boards this passenger space ship along with his parents and there are other aliens there that are his species dressed as Humans from different Human cultures from around the world all boarded up ready to go home. And the teenager’s parents tell him that their species and Humans are identical in everyway and that they came to Earth to study Humans by living on Earth as one of them for a period of time.

So the teenager and his parents were basically culturally observers like in Star Trek where they live on a pre-warp or less advanced planet pretending to be the native people of the planet to study the culture first hand then reporting back to their planet.

The teenager sits in his seat bummed out he has to leave Earth forever to head back to his native alien world then out of the blue the girl he liked showed up to sit next to him then tells him “Guess what my parents told me?” Revealing that she was of the same alien species as the teenager.
