I like Japan, at least from a distance. True, the closest I’ve come to being there were a couple of very brief layovers while flying.

But this…this idea? This is hilariously bad!

Matrixx shows some pictures of these cardboard beds, and one may as well set up pizza delivery boxes and sleep on them.

This will end badly, and this Olympic games just becomes more and more of a joke. Which is in many ways sad, but I can’t help but laugh at the idea of cardboard beds.

It was also stated that it was to prevent two or more bodies being on the bed at the same time, being “physical”.

Social distancing and such… And they are still giving out condoms – the athletes could take home and use there (and not here).

The cardboard beds at the Olympics aren’t meant to prevent sex

After a long day of training for the biggest sporting event in the world, you’d expect that Olympic athletes would catch some Zs in an ultra plush, fancy bed. But the Olympics planning committee had something different in mind for this month’s Tokyo games.

    Like what?

Back in January 2020, Olympics organizers told the Associated Press that they were planning to create cardboard beds so that they could be recycled into paper products after the games were over.

And despite being made of cardboard, the beds aren’t flimsy. They can support 440 pounds, Takashi Kitajima, the general manager of the Athletes Village, told AP at the time, insisting they would be “stronger than wooden beds.”

In addition, each mattress, not made of cardboard, will be recycled into plastic products.

So it was all about recycling and sustainable.

Still, with so little media attention and excitement for these Olympic Games, having the world talking about cardboard beds is a good PR move.

Not that I will care more/less for the games.

This Olympic Games is going to be a total failure lol

    protests, scandals, complains, drama…

    Get ready

What good is a protest when there is no one there to see it?

And I am sure anything will be quickly edited/camera switched before it gets aired.

Couldn’t this just be a method for thorough disinfection by simply incinerating the used beds in a few weeks?
