“It’s Not Just a Signal,” It’s The Batman Teaser!
A Full Trailer is coming at DC's FanDome This Weekend

While it’s still a while off from its release in theaters, fans got a glimpse from a teaser trailer for The Batman ahead of a full trailer debuting at the DC FanDome event this Saturday, October 16. It’s just a brief 6-second clip, but we know what Robert Pattinson’s Batman is going to sound like under the cowl.

“It’s not just a signal; it’s a warning” is what Pattinson utters. If you compare it to the previous iterations of Ben Affleck or Christian Bale trying to do a Lemmy Kilmister impression, then it’s hardly the voice you would be expecting. It’s far more subdued. Obviously, there is a bit of a put-on, but it’s not a voice changer a la Batwoman. (Not that anyone would know; have you seen the ratings?) Or like the George Clooney Batman in Batman and Robin, who simply spoke as Bruce Wayne. Here’s hoping Pattinson won’t regret his portrayal of the Caped Crusader like he does, either.
Outside of this teaser and a short line from last year’s FanDome Teaser, not much is known about the plot of the 3rd live-action Batman in 20 years. There were set photos released from last year of him looking hilarious on the Bat-Cycle (perhaps he should get ON a cycle, if you know what I mean), and the unfortunately false rumors of him hooking up with co-star Zoe Kravitz in the Batmobile; what a great story.
The cast and crew are stellar: Andy Serkis as Alfred, Colin Farrell taking another swing at a comic book villain, this time for DC, as Oswald Cobblepot (the Penguin to his friends), and the previously mentioned Kravitz as Selina Kyle. Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) is directing this and is executive producer for the upcoming Batman: Caped Crusader television series.
On the face of it, lots of people will dismiss it for the casting choice of Pattinson or their undying support of the Snyder-verse. But if there is a different take on Batman, if there’s more of a focus on the “World’s Greatest Detective” aspect of the much smaller Bruce Wayne this time around, it could be a different story that hasn’t been committed to celluloid yet.
But in all honesty, it will probably be a disaster in some way; this is Warner, after all.
