Seattle Kraken Win Their 1st NHL Game In Franchise History

The Seattle Kraken made franchise history Thursday night in Nashville, TN, as they notched their first-ever NHL regular-season win over the Nashville Predators (4-3).

The Kraken started off their regular season campaign Tuesday night in Las Vegas, NV, to take on the Golden Knights. It was a very rocky start for the new expansion team, as they gave up 3 goals to Vegas after the first 27 minutes of play. Luckily, they were able to do the unthinkable, as they scored 3 straight goals against the Knights to tie things up in the 3rd period. Unfortunately, Vegas wasn’t going to let the newest expansion team drive them into overtime. So with 11:27 left in the 3rd period, Golden Knights forward Stephenson pops a goal in off his skate to put the dagger in the incredible comeback made by Seattle. The Kraken lost their first game of the season to the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in regulation.

Fast-forward a couple of days later; the Kraken are well-rested and arrive in Nashville, TN, to take on the Predators. Again, a bit of a slow start for the Kraken as they gave up the first goal of the game to the Preds. But with 4:33 left in the 1st period, Jared McCann shoots a wrister from the blueline and squeaks one past Preds goaltender Juuse Saros to tie things up for Seattle. A couple of minutes later, the Kraken get another goal, this time from Brandon Tanev. That goal secured the team’s first lead of the season going into the 1st intermission. Both teams traded goals in the 2nd (NASH: Josi and SEA: Wennberg) and 3rd (SEA: Tanev and NASH: Granlund) periods of the game. Tanev’s 2nd goal proved to be the game-winner, as the Kraken held on to defeat the Predators 4-3 in regulation.

The Seattle Kraken are back in action Saturday night (7 PM EST/4 PM PST) to take on the Blue Jackets in Columbus, OH.

The Kraken do not play their first regular-season home game at Climate Pledge Arena until Saturday, October 23rd, when they take on their Pacific Northwest rivals, the Vancouver Canucks.
