The Whale Trailer Review

Today the second trailer for The Whale came out. In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, this is Brendan Fraser’s big-screen comeback following appearances in TV shows like Trust and Doom Patrol. It’s also an awards contender from director Darren Aronofsky. The Whale tells the story of a 600-pound teacher (Fraser) who reconnects with his estranged daughter (Sadie Sink). Check out the trailer here:

I love Brendan Fraser, and I’m so happy he’s been back in the spotlight. I only want the best for him, especially after what he’s been through. However, that’s my only real interest in this movie. I’m convinced the acting will be good, especially from him. But I’d be lying if I said anything in the marketing or synopsis for The Whale made it a must-see for me. However, it’s awesome that Fraser is boycotting the Golden Globes, even if he wins. It serves them right

But what do you think about Brendan Fraser, The Whale, or anything else? Talk to us in the comments!

Only Gen Xers will appreciate this, 1) because it’s Brendan Fraser and 2) because most of us have lived experience and probably sympathize with what it is to grow old and feel bad about letting go of who we used to be. There is a message in this trailer that really hits home with a lot of people who are hitting their 40s and seeing images all over the place making them believe they are doing it all wrong. The reality is harsh and this movie looks like it’s all about throwing that reality right out into your face in dramatic fashion. Bottom line, this might be the most important movie of our time. It won’t make the money it should make. Everyone should make that last sentence untrue.
