Samba TV and The Wrap report that The Mandalorian’s season 3 premiere pulled in disappointing numbers. The episode had twice the viewership of Andor’s premiere but trailed Loki by 35% and Obi-Wan Kenobi by 28%. The Book of Boba Fett had 2% more viewers than Mandalorian.
I’m somewhat surprised, but I would have been shocked to hear this a couple of years ago. The Mandalorian is wildly popular and, without question, Disney+’s flagship show. But most people seem to agree that Andor’s numbers were so low, at least in part, because of fan displeasure with Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett. I wasn’t expecting fans to drop The Mandalorian over that since it has been good up to this point, but it does make some sense. I don’t think this season is amazing so far, but it’s a far cry from Boba Fett or Kenobi, both of which sucked.
But what do you think? Can Disney+ even survive without Mando pulling in big numbers? Drop us a comment below!
Totally agree about Boba Fett; that and Kenobi really hurt this and Andor IMO in terms of viewership
People dumped D+ and are watching it “other” ways. That is part of why the ratings tanked. Book of Boba Fett left a bad taste in mouths, just like The Last Jedi did. And now you have the fallout, just like they did with Solo. Star Wars is not in a good state, at all.
