Watched the movie this afternoon. I was pretty happy with it.
I didn’t notice any woke stuff inserted; if anything, there may have been some intentional not-woke stuff in it; for example, the scene were Groot pulls out a redneck pick-up truck full of weapons and joins Quill in blasting the bad guys.
Some of the character arcs were very good. Nebula was more central in this movie than in the earlier ones, and she carried her part of the story very well. The flashbacks of Rocket’s past were very moving. I even liked that it not all the story elements were resolved in predictable ways.
Any complaints? For a movie that seems to be intended to appeal to children, while still not being a kids’ movie, the language was at times too strong, one big part of the movie is an act of genocide or even xenocide, though the action scenes may distract from what is really happening, and there are some creatures who have been subjected to experiments and have, for example, spider-like legs and no mouth, or thin metal arms.
So, I may recommend some caution in taking kids to see it, but outside of that, I can’t think of any big caveats.
I didn’t watch too much into the spoilers, I watched some of the Drinkers round table video. I didn’t hear anybody complain about woke stuff, But somebody made a point about Gamora’s character regressing to her 1st appearance(personality wise)
I did hear about the trivialization of violence & murder, even from the good guys. I’m not going to pay to watch it, but I’ll find a way to watch it & possibly review it this week.
I absolutely loved the movie! It was the perfect blend of an emotional story and fun comedic moments
Rocket’s story just ripped my heart out 😭 The final battle gives such good payoff, and Adam Warlock likes cats

Meh, i wouldn’t really worry about language, every kid knows most of those words by 1st grade
But yeah, the themes are quite dark and not all kids will be comfortable watching, it’s a case by case situation, i know 2 of my little cousins, one of them would enjoy this movie 100%, but the other will be running out of the theater screaming and crying
Also found this sweet behind the scence vid of Karen Gillan’s week in the life of playing Nebula :3
