…past, present and upcoming releases…anything you’ve seen or would like to see…perhaps give others some viable choices for theatre outings/movie nights.

    Starting with these:

    Big fan of Joaquin:

    Looks funny:

    Whose side are you on?

    #303363

Would you have children like this?

I think this is one of the best trailers I’ve ever seen. The music is simple but excellent, the images hint at an overall story but do more to intrigue than to spoil that story, and the overall effect is surprisingly moving. I hope this movie gets to discs or streaming soon, because it’s one I’d really like to see.

The Creator looks really interesting and by the Rogue One director. Apparently the move cost less than 100m to make too.

I have Suzume no Tojimari and will be watching that in the next few days.

Sadly, as much as I want to be, none of these excite me.

    Samuel L Jackson and superheroes.
    Samuel L Jackson and dinosaurs.
Samuel L Jackson and light sabers.
    Samuel L Jackson and aliens.
    Samuel L Jackson and snakes.

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

At one point do you just say to yourself there is total selfishness?

As a woman, I want to see more female superheroes on the screen but not if they’re going to be unlike-able “girl bosses” that are bullying the male characters to make themselves look good. I want to see them try and help the male character to the best of their ability and to NOT refuse his help in return. It’s ok to ask for help from a man if you’re a woman. It’s one of the things that I hate about modern female superhero films. I’d rather watch Catwoman. At least that tried to be entertaining.

@DragonLady I have ZERO problem with authentic people like yourself. If you want more female superheroes, by all means, go for it. Is Samuel L a female now? Just kidding. I am going to see Cabrini with a relative and the trailer had some feminist stuff, but I don’t really care. It’s a movie that made us curious.

I am glad when people pop off about what they’re really about. It’s how it should be. Especially now.

Vaguely remember Monica Rambeau from the comics, but for some reason, I remember some kind of dark energy. It was an era when The Black Knight was involved, too, I think.

WW84 and Birds of Prey had some feminist stuff in it but it didn’t turn me off completely. My only complaint with Those films was that I wish Pascal didn’t spend most of WW84 whining his ass off and I wasn’t crazy about the outfits on Birds of Prey but that maybe because I wouldn’t wear those kinds of outfits myself😂. I also hated what they did with Casandra Cain in that film. I admit that I’m curious about the Barbie film but probably because I really like Margot Robbie as an actress (I think she’s pretty both with and without make-up on…and how does she look good in those outfits😲😥😂???) and especially when she does those sort of roles even though I’m NOT a massive Barbie fan and I’ll only see it if ‘Barbie Girl’ by Aqua is on at the end credits 😂.

    Not another shark movie…

@DragonLady Pascal was the best part of WW84 for me. I don’t even like him that much, but in that role, he genuinely made me laugh and his charismatic face surprised me. Wonder Woman is actually a good character and the movies had their moments. I do give credit to Gadot. She nailed it, because I wanted more of a Linda Carter or Xena type, but Gal owned it.

You bring up a very key pt. about Geek culture that I find endearing and that is the CosPlay. In the comics, I recall comics actually chastising fans for engaging in CosPlay because they became a huge part of the conventions. That really is one litmus test that I personally have about brands or franchises, and that is, do fans dress up as these characters? It adds another dimension to any brand. Are they going to dress up as a character for Halloween or are they gonna CosPlay at a convention as…what? That is a key indicator I look for in terms of strength of a story.

If girls are not dressing up as WW or Barbie or Bene Gesserit, that is a bit of a failure, but again, this is only my POV and how I see the world.

I really do think Margot Robbie should be the biggest thing in Hollywood, and she just might be, but there was no way I was gonna see Birds of Prey after I saw Suicide Squad, which was awful for my tastes. Again, people like different things. It’s why I like the Geeks and Gamers is they are all opinionated and take no crap from anyone, not even the rich entertainment class people.

Oppenheimer was screaming my name, but I cooled way off on it. Now, I dunno.

Inclined to check it out because of Carrie, but it looks iffy.

@DragonLady This one is especially for you. With everyone ripping on Barbie, this is in defense of the movie. Now, I’ll never watch it, but Brittany Venti says that some did not get the joke. The movie mocked people who make fun of patriarchy. She chooses a high heel, which symbolizes going with what it natural to her over some kind of male wannabe role. She said it was like valley girl, airhead, ditzy satire on feminism. Brittany Venti is known for being a troll at all times though, but she actually made this movie sound interesting and actually, quite funny.
