I watched this pretty much knowing what it was going to be and it was.
Let’s not mice words, Tyson is a smart man. But him going on shows and talking about gender and sex is just propaganda. I am certain the man does not believe the entirely idiotic stuff he is saying here. I listened for 15mins as he talked about bias, social construct, women being under represented and explain this new society and new age we are in. So for 15mins he mentioned a scientific fact not once.
His arguments he put forth were far more detailed than what you get from most. But it was all still nonsense based on assumptions he hopes you don’t ask about.
He claimed we are in a new age or that society is evolving, hence all the new stuff about gender/sex. This entirely sidesteps the reasons we are seeing this stuff now within just the last 5 or so years. We are not seeing an organic change. This is about social engineering and an agenda being pushed from the top down. If that was not the case you would not see the exact same things happening the exact same way in countries that are an ocean apart, culturally different and this is all through the west.
Tyson also calls attention to the VERY crux of this matter. And this too is an assumption. He says that if someone wants to wake up and go out in a make-up and full beard they should be able to and that they should not have to adhere to your beauty standards. Understand what is being done here. With verbal slight of hand he is challenging your perception and then baking in compelled action. These are 2 different things entirely.
If someone wants to wake up and go out in a full beard and make up they are 100% free to do so. This is and always was the case. Same with what you choose to identify as, be whatever you want no one will stop you. But this is not what is being demanded. What’s being demanded is that you treat someone in the manner they personally prescribe. And this is enshrined in law in a few spots but they are gunning for that to be everywhere. Once you break the seal on government compelling action and speech that cannot be undone and if you think it stops there you don’t know history.
The entire agenda of “trans rights” is just no more than what I mention above. Like pronouns, it’s not about them, it’s about what they want to force you to do.
I agree that Neil Degrasse Tyson is an intelligent individual in plenty of circles, however, intelligence does not mean he is always right or always smart. The law of man is that we can never be smart 100% of the time. So while in some cases I might be a near genius when it comes to predicting the heights and falls of the video game industry, if you stuck me on TV show where I had to name every football player for the 1998 green bay packers line up, I assure you that I would look like a complete idiot.
Neil Degrasse Tyson is just giving us a taste of him being incredibly dumb and rightly so. Sure, is he intelligent when it comes to trying to socially engineer society to thinking men can be women, sure, but he’s dumb for trying because everyone thinks we take his word because he’s a scientist which is dumb in itself, especially when the “trust the science” argument has fallen flat on its face proving these people don’t give two shits about the science or the facts, they just want to be right.
So no, Neil Degrasse Tyson is smart when he talks about quantum physics or actual things that are scientifically proven, however, when it comes to social issues, biology, or common sense, he isn’t quite there, mentally.
The man is only smart in things he knows, not things he doesn’t know. And yes he probably knows he doesn’t believe in this stuff, but the simple act of him making a complete buffoon of himself for the sake of woke ideology, it’s probably the dumbest thing I’ve seen an intelligent man ever argue in my life.
The Tyson thing is expressed simply in the below formula. The left works entirely via supposition and subterfuge.
Knowledge does not equal Intelligence does not equal wisdom.
Neil is just a has-been who’s trying to remain relevant. No one takes him seriously anymore.
@Vknid Absolutely.
Knowledge doesn’t equal intelligence and intelligence doesn’t equal wisdom.
Wisdom is knowledge from experience. I learned to not touch a hot stove by touching a hot stove. I gained wisdom in not touching hot things because I know I’ll get burned.
Is Neil knowledged or intelligent to you? Well I agree he’s knowledged, but is he intelligent?
It does not matter whether Tyson is intelligent or knowledgeable or even wise. These are only positive attributes when used from a good faith position. I disregard Tyson not based on his attributes but his actions which are disingenuous. This actually has little to do with his agenda but just what he says. A man who assumes authority based on his intellect yet contradicts himself invalidates his claim. The same goes for the situation where your appeal to fame is intelligent and calm discussion and then you flip your lid and get emotional. You lose the point from which you argue.
