South Park: Joining the Panderverse Trailer Mocks Woke Casting
South Park is taking aim at wokeness again. Today, Paramount Plus and South Park Studios released a trailer for the next South Park exclusive event, titled South Park: Joining the Panderverse. The latest in a series of TV movies for Paramount+, South Park: Joining the Panderverse finds the boys replaced by a set of diverse stand-ins. How or why any of this is happening is a mystery, but based on this quick trailer, it looks like the special will highlight the absurdity of the race and gender swaps ubiquitous in movies today and the defensive tactic of putting the onus on everyone else to explain why it’s a problem. South Park: Joining the Panderverse will arrive on Paramount+ on October 27, 2023; you can watch the trailer below:
This looks incredible. Nothing is as satisfying as watching South Park lampoon a cultural issue that’s patently absurd but painted as a sacred cow. Replacing Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman (and Butters) with racially diverse adult women is the perfect way to mock the pandering that goes on in movie adaptations nowadays. And, of course, PC Principal would be the most ardent defender of changing characters to fill diversity quotas, pointing his finger at anyone who thinks it’s stupid. I still haven’t subscribed to Paramount+, but I’m going to really soon (if I’m being completely honest, what’s finally motivating me to do it is that Frasier revival), and one of the first things I do will be to catch up on all the exclusive South Park TV movies I missed.
