Disney World may need to start teaching its employees self-defense. According to WDW News Today, several witnesses said that a guest attacked a cast member last night at the monorail station in The Magic Kingdom. WDW News Today says that a now-deleted post on the Facebook group “Annual Passholder – Walt Disney World Resort” detailed the assault, saying the assailant “push[ed] aside a cast member trying to get it into the monorail because he got mad he [was] told to go car and then he was told he can’t go.” Another account said that the attacker “yelled at a sheriff’s officer.” No footage of the altercation was released, but TikTok videos depicting officers from the local sheriff’s department working with the park’s security team to manage the scene, courtesy of user teachingwithmscasco:

That’s a nice parting gift for the kids, huh? Based on the descriptions from those Facebook posts (assuming they’re true), the guy sounds like a nut. I get being set off by the confusion and resulting frustration of leaving a crowded amusement park via public transportation, but if he was still yelling at the cops after the incident, he’s probably not well. A comment on one of the TikTok videos claims he was arrested, unsurprisingly. WDW News Today is correct when they say there’s an added danger because this took place at the monorail station, where there are train tracks someone could’ve fallen onto. This kind of thing happens a lot in New York City subway stations, where we have a rash of wackos pushing people onto the tracks. It doesn’t sound like the cast member – or anyone else – was hurt badly, so that’s some good news. And this was probably an isolated incident; I doubt this person is part of a monorail attack gang or anything. Still, it’s best to be careful and aware of your surroundings, no matter where you are – even the happiest place on Earth.
