Jack Reacher will be dealing with more ghosts from his past in his next TV adventure. According to Variety, season 3 of the Amazon series Reacher will be based on the seventh book from author Lee Child, Persuader. Based on the Wikipedia entry, Persuader has Reacher teaming up with the DEA to infiltrate a drug ring while seeking vengeance against a man who killed two friends of his years ago and escaped justice. Season 3 of Reacher is currently filming, with Alan Ritchson back in the title role; Maria Sten will also return as Neagley, Reachers’ former colleague, though it’s unknown how big a part she’ll have this time. Reacher’s second season – which was based on the eleventh book in the series, Bad Luck and Trouble – aired its final episode last week; the first season was based on the first Reacher book, Killing Floor.
This is probably going to sound crazy, but I forgot Neagley was in season 1. I know she had a smaller part, but I have no recollection of her from that season. Maybe I need to watch it again. A look at some of the synopses of Lee Child’s novels reveals that she pops up in the books from time to time, so that makes sense. As for adapting Persuader, it doesn’t matter to me which one they do. I only read the first three, so I’ll be going into this one cold, like I did with season 2, and that suits me fine. (Of the ones I read, I liked the second, Die Trying, the best – as does Alan Ritchson.) I love this show, and as long as it can stay as good as those first two seasons, I hope they keep adapting the books. And with Child writing them at a rate of one per year, they won’t run out of source material anytime soon.
