Moana Remake Delayed, Will Film This Year

The live-action Moana remake will go into production this year, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, it has been delayed to July 10th, 2026. It was previously slated for a June 27th, 2025 release date. The film will star Dwayne Johnson in his original role of Maui, while Moana hasn’t been cast yet. Thomas Kail (Hamilton) will direct the movie for Disney and Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions.

I wish they weren’t making this, so I don’t care when or how it comes out. I have at least some hope for the sequel, but I’m tired of Disney remakes, and this film is too recent (and an actual original story!) for this type of treatment anyway.

But what do you think? Are you looking forward to live-action Moana? Sound off in the comments!
