Agatha Harkness Show Gets a Final Title

Did the Agatha Harkness show have its real title set all along? Probably not, but that’s what Marvel wants us to think. Today, at Disney’s upfront presentation (via The Hollywood Reporter), the series’ stars, Kathryn Hahn, Patti Lupone, and Joe Locke, announced the show’s final title: Agatha All Along. This follows Agatha: House of Harkness, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, with a quick change a couple of days ago to Agatha: The Lying Witch with Great Wardrobe. How quick was it? So quick that Marvel Studios deleted the post revealing the title in about ten minutes. You can see the new title reveal below:

Not for one second do I think this was the plan – forgiveness, please – all along. I think Marvel just cycled through a bunch of bland, generic, milquetoast titles that failed to get anyone interested in a show nobody really wants, so they leaned into the song from WandaVision. I do, however, think The Lying Witch with Great Wardrobe was probably fake; that was to set people up for the reveal at the upfront presentation and try to spin this as having been the plan from the beginning. And I think this was a good move, with Agatha All Along being the best title they could’ve chosen for the show. I don’t think it will be any good, and I don’t know how they plan to make a whole series about Agatha Harkness, but if they insist on doing it, their best bet is to try to remind people that they liked that catchy song. I feel bad being so negative because I love Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza, and I’ve liked Patti Lupone in the movies I’ve seen her in (Witness, Summer of Sam, Heist, State and Main, Parker – and she was hilarious in a guest role on an episode of Frasier), but they’re at the mercy of modern Marvel, and they deserve much better than this show will probably be. I guess it’s a safe assumption that we know the theme song now.
