Acolyte Ratings Trail Ahsoka

Deadline reports that The Acolyte, the new Disney+ Star Wars show from Leslye Headland, has brought in 11.1 million views after five days, compared to Ahsokas 14 million five-day total. This is pulled from Lucasfilm’s own data, not a third-party analyst like Samba or Nielsen. It already wasn’t looking great, but now, it’s confirmed that The Acolyte is down 3 million from the last live-action Star Wars series premiere.

I’m not surprised, but this is pretty bad, especially for such an expensive series. Despite failing to look movie-quality, these Disney+ shows cost a pretty penny, and it takes a decent viewership to justify their cost. I’m not sure it would make financial sense even then, but definitely not with these diminishing returns. I didn’t hate last week’s two-part season premiere of The Acolyte, but it wasn’t anything special, either. Tonight’s episode (which I haven’t seen yet) is apparently supposed to be bad, although I’ve tried to avoid the spoilers, so I’m not sure why. All this to say, I don’t think the ratings for The Acolyte will improve much.

But what do you think? Let us know in the comments!

Your point about the cost and financials is the most valid. Where is the money going? Besides some landscape shots and space ships, there is little to no CGI in this show that Industrial Light and Magic was known for. It fails to wow from a special effects stand point.
The rest of the show, aside from some wide angle shots, is filmed in the catacombs much like Tatooine and is borderline stage theater. It’s a bunch of people acting spiritual in robes, which I like, but it’s been done.
Also, imo, Warrior Nun and Fort Salem: Motherland did the female cult thing better. They were better shows.

Not hating on the show or it’s fans, but let’s be a bit honest, to have a role where you are basically floating and sleeping and calling that a fight scene is pretty lazy and bad. Imagine having to tell your family, yeah, that was me sleeping thru that entire role, wasn’t it great?
