    (36 minute mark)

Ethan showing up on Alex Stein is actually kind of a big deal, it shows Blaze is willing to platform EVS and have a conversation, an open and honest dialogue. Good on these guys.

It’s easy to think of things as “The Blaze are team Eric”, but that might change, we see Alex and EVS having a cordial and even keeled conversation, maybe Eric’s stans can give this interview a watch in its entirety and see that the criticisms against Eric aren’t so petulant and hate filled, a lot of us just want to see things improve for this scene.

What really struck me was Alex saying he wants to try to mend things between Eric and EVS. Where does that take this controversy? How do they drag Eric kicking and screaming to an open and honest conversation, how does Eric face the music without alienating his fans who think he’s infallible, and the same for Ethan in regards to him being an abject f*ck from time to time?

I actually think that would be easy, if Eric can come out and take criticism, acknowledge where he fucked up that would go a long way, but how do you admit you filed a harassment charge against an innocent neckbeard without losing face? Does Eric have it in him to admit genuine fault? I’m not sure he does… I’m sure Erics fans and Eric will argue that Riley is an unhinged aggressive weirdo. When will you guys get it through your skull, Eric is even MORE aggresive and petty than Riley and has done more to escalate this bullshit than anyone. If anyone needs protection from the other it’s Riley who needs protection from Eric using his stature to destroy his life, as well as the character attacks and rallying his base to go after him.

For all the character attacks Eric July makes on others, if he wants to see the person most responsible for the attacks and protests against his business, he needs to take a look in the fucking mirror.

It’s a fascinating situation, and one has to wonder if maybe the blaze is seeing a potential ally in EVS, a business partner. Maybe they can double dip and help fuel this spectacle while promoting and capitalizing and the whole of the indie comic space. Could you imagine if comic gate kings did their own Rippaverse style multiverse of high quality with the same promotional power that Rippaverse had? With quality books… heck they could even do some politically charged stuff they could sell directly to the blaze audience. The mind wanders…

You can’t overlook the fact that ISOM #1 made over 3 million dollars. But Yaira is falling hard, between all the upkeep costs and who knows what % “friends” and fellow youtubers get for promoting these comics.

Simply put, the venture of the Rippaverse is facing a rapid decline from which there is no respite with the current trajectory of things. But in the greatest plot twist in history, maybe out of this beef between Rippa and EVS that could end up being a saving grace of Rippaverse.

Could you imagine if EVS and Young Rippa got to come together to make something incredible. I’ve said it before i’ll say it agian, Rippa ist he ultimate hype man, EVS is the ultimate comic book creator (and a fantastic personality in his own right). Together, and with Alex Stien, they might be able to create the WWE of comic book creating and combine interesting personalities with art!

Might be reading too much into this, but seeing Alex Stein and EVS together having this chat was VERY interesting. Just when I think this drama couldn’t get any crazier an entirely new layer unfolds.

I’d love to see all these guys grow, and to be fair, maybe down the road if Eric learns to be a bit humble, maybe we can see EVS apologize for being such a fucking douche nozzle. Probably not, but interesting to see what happens next!

ROFL, it’s ridiculous that this is the fucking drama i’m most intrigued by. Not house of the dragon, not star wars, well, maybe politics is the only thing more captivating for me, but my main source of entertainment these days, is watching EVS and Eric July’s beef over comics gate. What a fucking time to be alive.

Your blind bias, division encouraging comments, and statement of things that are not so makes you the CNN of forum posting.

You are either EVS, EVS’s “cool” Aunt or a guy who either wakes up next to him or wants to.

      #320140

At some point you Rippafans are going to wake up and realize you’re in this little tiny bubble with a world view built on lies, it’s only a matter of time. Even Gary and Jeremy no longer shill Yaira or Rippaverse, they’ll still be friends with Rippa, which is nice, but the money grift is coming to a close as the truth that Rippa isn’t cut out to head this movement comes to bear.

I came here to edit in one last thought. I hope the beef here remains authentic and real, that’s what keeps this so captivating. If the Blaze and Alex get too hands on and try to create artificial drama for show, I think that would kind of kill the thrill of it all.

There’s captivating drama here, it just needs a means of reaching more people and maybe an entry point  for people to get up to date on how this is a big deal. Comics are a major pillar of entertainment, this Youtube sphere having their influence on this space is interesting, the clashing of fans that we see in on these forums and on twitter.

People are engaged, you don’t even have to be a comics fan to be interested in this battle. You just have to care about the future of culture, the future of entertainment, the future of creatives being able to earn a living, and of course us fans get caught up in the mix as well with our own biases and perspectives. We may not agree on much, but we can agree that whichever side you land on, you can’t look away.

Who said I was a Rippa fan?  Why would you assume since I criticize you I am a Rippa fan unless you considered yourself diametrically opposed to Eric July?

        There’s captivating drama here

No there is just this bon fire of division you keep pouring gas on while complaining about the fire.

the clashing of fans that we see in on these forums and on twitter.

There is no clash.  There is you posting insane love letter stuff and people pointing at you and disagreeing and verbally rolling there eyes.

We may not agree on much, but we can agree that whichever side you land on, you can’t look away.

What sides?  These sides you keep trying to form?  Everyone is looking away because no one really cares about this battle between Rippa and EVS because there is no battle.

Your rhetoric is tiring. You are not convincing in the least.  You answer no accusations directly and the fact you appear to be monitoring your replies tends to mean to me you are just out for the attention.

        #320142

Complaining about the fire? I’m literally blathering about how damned entertaining this all is and that I can’t look away. I hope Rippaverse can turn it around and Eric can grow as a person from the perspective of wanting the world to heal, but in the meantime this drama is entertaining as fuck.

It’s fine if you guys think i have some abnormal infatuation, whatever. I relate to EVS as a creator and creative, and he puts on a good stream. I find it kind of bizzare to take things so far, but whatever.

Of course we’re out for attention, either for our thoughts, or for the things we’re posting about. That’s the point of a forum, literally everyone that makes any post anywhere is out for attention for their post. That’s the point.

        #320149

Watching now. Thanks for posting this. If not for this site, I would have missed it. It’s something to be intrigued by and to think about. Also, I do think parts of your feedback critique are totally correct. What can be said about Rippa can also be said of EVS. Both have good operations but neither are quite up to where you think that they should be. I do agree about combining forces.

I find it interesting that Alex Stein is getting into this topic. Alex Stein went to Eric’s event at the Boozy Bird and the event looked great to me and looked like a lot of fun. I would have liked to go just to take a booth and observe the whole thing. Alex Stein said that July had 400 people at that event.
That is truly awesome that GnG, Nerdrotic and EJ can do events like this. Just as an excuse for fellowship, that alone, is needed. Ha, EVS points out what Riley did is somthing that Alex Stein would do. Ouch. That’s true. The difference is that Alex Stein is in shape and looks hygenic wheres as Riley comes off deranged. The grave thing was over the line. Another thing EVS said was that ComicCons are filled with a lot of people selling bad comics. That is truth right there. It is subjective.

Go figure that I do not think the art is the problem with either guy, so much as the writing. Lately, I have been enjoying work the the writers Rick Remender and Chris Soule. I used to like Matt Hawkins as a writer. There are touches of woke in all writers though. EVS was one of the first people to point out ESG and I think all writers have to abide by ESG in some way, but they don’t talk about it. Probably are under NDAs themselves.

Funny EVS said his son got stuck at PRIDE night at a Phillies game because he didn’t know it was that night. That’s funny.

I like Alex Stein, but think that Barstool Sports sucks. Interesting that Jermy himself said he wanted GnG to be the Barstool Sports of geekdom, which is a great thing to say, as Alex talks about EVS and EJ. It would take more artists and writers, but I am far more interesting in geekdom than woke sports, of which I’ll never be a fan again.
Too much corporate propaganda involved it all of it. It would be nice if the comics in the Indie space started being kind of like The Boys in mocking this WokeTard Bankster class subculture we live in now. It should be much easier to mock than what The Boys does, which is punch down on the public and the dissidents on behalf of the privileged vampire squid media class.

The last ComicCon I went, the guys who bent my ear that I eavesdropped on were already looking elsewhere and I heard them mention Valiant comics, which is good thinking. Personally, I do like Image comics, Mad Cave comics, Dark Horse and others. People can give EVS and EJ feedback, but the big two have put out a lot of bad material, so anyone can do that.
At least Eric puts on events for the fans. One thing Ethan did not bring up is that the Comiccons and the Sci-fi cons have all banned Indie people for their politics at one time or another, so it’s not even as bad as the Riley situation, but far worse, because they harassed their actual vendors over blog posts that were not personal beef in nature.

One thing is that I think both guys need better writers. The art itself is not bad. Would also say that the maybe need better characters and character designs, which is one thing that I think Eric July has more potential to do because one thing he did right is, on his website, he has an art section where fans hand in their art in an art content and I really thought highly of July for that, now that is smart, to data farm your fans. Nerdrotic has said in the past that he thinks some of the guys in his own chat are better writers than what we are getting from a lot of entertainment and I totally agree with that.
There are some smart people out there. I saw that on a comment of a video I was watching about a movie I liked, where a fan said, if they would have done this twist, this movie would have been a classic and I grinned because I liked his idea. Sharp people out there, and that’s all we are asking for and that’s what is missing is just the clever writing tactics that we used to get from some of the old classic esoteric films.

Will say though that I think I prefer comics to just about any genre. Nothing beats movement and motion of the movies and shows, but I think comics are just the most practical way to storyboard good writing.
Again, I am totally neutral in this. I think EVS has more talent, but he’s a bit older. While being neutral on Eric, he has already made little touches of Animation and Live Action film, and that’s what is kind of missing from the smaller comic companies, although I’m sure their stories are probably adapted to shows and I just don’t know about it.

All of this petty drama makes me wonder how it would have been if social media was around the generation prior. Would have been interesting to hear Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane, and Marc Silvestri talk trash and start beef in their younger and more brash days.

One of the unsung writers of ComicsGate is Mark Pellegrini of Iconic Comics. He works with Tim Lim and has that style that I like in that he is amusing and clever. Yet another crew that EVS seemed to have some kind of problem with. I don’t follow all of this that closely because streaming and videos seem to market the drama and the zany stuff more than the actual product of comics.

On a side note, I have no business bringing this up, but I do think the community should step up and stage an intervention and offer counseling support to Nick Rekieta. I think he’s worth it. For some reason, I had a favorable opinion of him, so I must have caught his streams when he was in a better place. I’d like to see him as more professional, since he is a father of 5. He used to do those collective lawyer case streams, but I guess they shut it down? If so, I can understand why Nick would fall off the wagon, because we should be free to make the content that we want without the constant hassle. Maybe an end around to those censored lawyer streams would be another platform like Rumble, or maybe he should come up with his own site and promote it there, but I am not that familiar with what went on.

@ IllTemperedTuna : Said “Of course we’re out for attention, either for our thoughts, or for the things we’re posting about. That’s the point of a forum, literally everyone that makes any post anywhere is out for attention for their post. That’s the point.”

Utterly wrong. 100000% wrong. I post to have conversation and discussion, to find like minds since that seems to be rare these days, not for attention. I don’t want any attention, just conversation. Not everyone likes drama.

There is nothing entertaining about all this drama. It is sad and pathetic. I can’t stand the “Lets go get the popcorn” mentality. It’s childish. This kind of drama does nothing good and only brings things down, it creates MORE division. You said this is “captivating drama”. NO!. And frankly, you saying that shows an utter lack of maturity man. As does you thinking that people only post to get attention. Seriously. No one should ever take pleasure in other people’s drama and problems.

        #320160

This is kind of a fascinating take DarthVengeant. To me everything you just described is essentially attention, maybe a better word for it is “engagement”, but there’s something to be said for this era of internet celebrity at any cost, lol cow farming, reaction content, whatever you want to call it.

Believe it or not, I actually agree with you to a great deal, I hate this stupid celebrity and attention seeking culture we live in, and a great deal of what bothers me about the Rippaverse is I see a company founded 100% in attention and life brand type stuff, with very little substance, from my perspective Eric hasn’t really built a company that gives back. And if we’re being fair, EVS is falling down this same rabbit hole, with every Trashcast he’s essentially saying “Look Eric, I can do the same thing as you, ragebait and farm fans with livestreams, who needs to draw comic books?”

You’re right this is a tad immature, in some ways we’re like a  junkie going after that high, Nick Rekieta on a Wednesday night . But this is what the world is, for better or worse.

In my mind I like to think I’m “team meritocracy” and “team providing something of quality for your customers”, but quality in comics is subjective and people should be free to enjoy what they enjoy. But it’s a fine line, because sometimes people take that freedom and they join cults, or groups where likeminded people all focus their hate on others to produce a growing hate and division like leftists, or Disney Star Wars fans.

It’s a really fucking weird world to live in, with many shades of grey. Some of us are prone to tendencies we dislike in others.

This kinda goes back to Star Wars. Remember when Luke goes into the cave to  face Vader on Dagobah? He lets his fear and anger consume him and he sees himself in Vader as he defeats him. That’s EVS right now, he’s becoming the image of Eric he sought to fight. Angry, obsessed with internet celebrity, not producing comics, farming a cash cow audience that don’t demand excellent comics.

You’re right, things are decaying and this squabble only highlights that. I guess I rationalize this as, well since there’s little of substance in this world, I have to engage with SOMETHING. Or, “this is my slice of cake for the day, i’ll watch some Rippaverse/ EVS drama”.

I wish I knew what the answer is. Most people like their drama, and if you want to enact positive change you have to tap into that drama.

This forum exists because Jeremy Griggs talked shit about Kathleen Kennedy.

One uniting theme of these forums that pulled me to them was there was a group of people here who wanted to be better. One thing that made me initially excited about Rippaverse was Eric wanted to be better. He always put out those videos talking about how you can’t just be an alternative, you have to be a GOOD alternative, and I loved the positive energy he fostered in his viewers.

In my eyes, we live in such a wretched world full of scum and villainy, that we have to get down in the mud and do some slinging to enact positive change.

You cannot have an honest and frank, civil conversation with a leftist to change their mind on say gun violence statistics. These people’s do not operate on honesty, they are manipulators who use tribalism and emotions to gaslight, as a weapon. You gotta get in that mud and get to fucking flinging, you gotta shame, you gotta get a little dirty and engage in the dirt and the grime because that’s where the average every day mind is.

We Meme’d Trump into office in 2016. We used pepe frog pictures and photoshops of Hillary Clinton in hand cuffs to save this country.

I know it looks counter productive, I know it’s immature to focus on drama, and not demand higher level discourse and to want a better world of civil conversation and level headed takes right now. But this is where we are. We are in clown world and people would rather sit at home with a beer in one hand and a bag of potato chips in the other complaining about their favorite internet celebrities over developing a craft, spending time with their kids, reading a book, or building community.

Yes I’ve shat of Eric SOUNDLY in my threads, but I’ve also encouraged him to do drawing streams, to start smaller and aspire to make better books. I’m not appealing for Eric to be canceled and destroyed here, though his own tendencies to want to do that to his detractors is very off putting. As a professional creative myself I’m trying to give that perspective that you can’t be style and no substance. It’s my greatest problem with the Rippaverse.

We want more out of all this, we want to see pen to paper, we want to see more than just drama. It’s still interesting for now, but this drama is wearing thin, if we don’t start seeing creations out of comic book kings or interesting new comics, this is all going to fall apart, and maybe that’s the ultimate destiny of all of this. Because kids these days don’t have the attention span for comics. The audience for both Rippa AND EVS is shrinking, and there is a real chance that this may all degrade into infighting E-Drama.

We do seem to be entering this dystopian Idiocracy future. Pure ragebait, pure celebrity. Why watch Star Wars when you can watch someone get angry at Star Wars? Some of us are getting addicted to the drama. Even Critical Drinker’s movie kinda imploded, and that was the shining light on the hill that this scene could produce something great. I respect the Epicverse guys for wanting to produce quality content, but I also understand how FUCKING HARD that is, and it takes YEARS and requires some really rare talent to be able to produce these things and they are untested.

The world has become broken. We watch train wrecks and we have all become so far removed from quality culture, and craft that we’ve lost respect for it. People used to play instruments, they used to gather round the fire and listen to live music from friends and family, we used to be writers and readers and partake in a higher level of culture and we would suppress stupid drama bullshit like this and demand others grow up and work to make the world better, not focus on immature failings, but try to elevate one another so we could be more mature and productive like you say.

We are all a product of this broken world, conditioned not to aspire for anything greater, not held to a higher standard by adults in the room, and time and again we go on youtube or facebook, or Twitter, and what does the algorithm tell us is success?

        Ragebait and Drama.

You’re 100% right about this. I’m actually gearing up to get to work right now, I despise what’s become of gaming and I’m trying to make a decent little indie game that has no wacky goofy mechanic, I don’t post goofy bullshit trying to market it or appeal to woke companies that use social strife to insulate themselves. Just busting my ass trying to make a game that I hope is fun. I do try to abide by that code that we should be productive and we should try to create things of value.

I don’t know what the solution is. We are standing in the rubble of the comic book industry, in the rubble of the gaming industry, we celebrate mediocrity, we lowered our standards, we lost our attention spans, and we lost the grit and determination to stand up and fight for what’s right, and now we sit in our puddles of mud and complain about Star Wars.

Dunno what the point is, just agreeing it’s a crazy world and I don’t know what the answer is.

For me the answer is to close this internet browser open my project and get to work. As for how can we fix this world? End the drama and appeal to our better natures? I have no friggin’ clue. But in the strife and the frustrations we do find struggle, and there is purpose in struggle. Props for having principles and standing by them in good faith DarthVengeant. You and ComicsGate have been a steady and positive force in my shitpostings.

We don’t think, you make that quite clear.    It is also equally clear you “relate” to him.

The only one being bizzare is you.  And that being this Jekyll and Hyde thing you repeatedly display where you complain about a thing and then engage in that thing and then when someone points that out you make a confused Pikachu face like they were the wacky one.

To me everything you just described is essentially attention, maybe a better word for it is “engagement”,

These are 2 very distinctive things,  which is why they are 2 different words. If you actually conflate one for the other you need to do some serious introspection.

hate this stupid celebrity and attention seeking culture we live in,

You lack any modicum of self awareness Mr. Hyde.

The abject unfounded righteousness of you neckbeards. Well i tried extending the olive branch.

If you want to embarrass yourselves acting like whiney dicklet Rippastans, go right ahead. I’m not going to bother engaging with you babies in the future. At this point it’s just a tired routine trying to explain my positions or that it’s ok for people to have opinions that differ from yours.

What gets me is you annoying assholes seem to think you have the moral authority to claim ownership of the zeitgeist. Of what should and should not be discussed.

People are allowed whatever the fuck opinion they want, thank you very much. Don’t like it? Eat a dick. Or cry into into the void.

You talk about immaturity yet act like little control freak bitches. Stop fucking bothering me. Or don’t, whatever. I will say this, I’m not going to let Rippastans or whatever the fuck this pushback is dissuade discussion of the decay Rippa and his followers caused in this community.

From the very inception of The Rippaverse post you guys have proven without any doubt that the Rippaverse has had a profoundly negative affect on discourse and the general temperment of this community. At every turn you fuckers have escalated the situation ad nausium to the point that literally anyone who engages with you lot walks away with a supremely negative impression of this fan base. You guys have destroyed the image of the Rippaverse and in many ways the fun atmosphere of geeks and gamers. Comic fans are full of nerds and geeks, some goofy, some fun, some neckbeardy.

Then there are you Rippastans. Diminutive, neckbeard petulant dick bag dick riders. Rippaverse has become a torrent of neckbeard righteousness, yelling, downvoting, claiming everything anyone says is full of shit, saying no facts are true. Claiming all opposition is “gay ops” everyone opposed to Eric July is a total piece of shit that needs to be doxxed, arrested, or worse. It’s vile the culture you have all fostered in this space. But it’s all EVERYONE ELSES FAULT for calling it out. Grow the fuck up.

You lot say you’re not Rippastans, but you sure as hell smell like them.

Eat shit and have a good one.

To this point I personally have attempted to understand what you were trying to convey and considered your points with the same fairness I would give anyone.  But you are a rabid sycophant activist who will talk about fairness and righteousness in one breath, and in the next, abandon both virtues so you can denigrate those you disagree with.  If you were truly concerned for the culture or the “community”, then you would remove yourself from it.

            This is a good watch

Star Wars Theory is a class act, Eric July and those in his orbit could learn a lot from him. Compare this to Eric spiraling all attacks on him out of control and acting like a prima donna always taking the low road at every opportunity.

It’s wacky how much hate you can generate simply trying to have even keeled criticism in the online space.

Great post here from John Malin as well, you guys could take some notes from him too:

            https://x.com/JonMalin/status/1803953636894011458

If Eric July made a level headed, self aware post like this that showed he was adding value to this culture war, I would be OVER THE MOON. I would be the first to celebrate it. You guys keep claiming I’m here to attack Eric. Not true, I want his venture to have positive value. That fucking simple.

Dan Bongino showing how it’s done. This culture war is a fight. And there are a lot of fake mother fuckers that are in this with no principles looking only for the easy paychecks:

While EVS and EJ compete, the guy who made INVINCIBLE and THE WALKING DEAD is getting into the child grooming business. I used to really like comics, but all companies have been taken over by BlackRock and Larry Fink and Ari Emanuel and the media moguls are clearly focused on turning your lands into SODOM and Babylon.
This is something neither Rippa nor Ethan do, which is mock and lampoon the sellouts in corporate, so is Indie really even competing? Out of all the writers, the only guy I’ve even seen make slight jokes about the woketards is Mark Pellegrini.

GI Joe Character TURNED GAY In WOKE Energon Universe From Robert Kirkman’s Skybound
            Jon Del Arroz

The Energon Universe seemed like a good turn around from IDW’s woke GI Joe and Transformers, but Skybound and Robert Kirkman hired activists in Joshua Williamson and Kelly Thompson to turn Scarlett gay and make Cobra Commander a MAGA leader.
