New Superman Images Reveal Green Lantern and Hawkgirl
Superman will have some help from other DC Comics heroes in his next big-screen outing, and once again, Cleveland.com has revealed how they’ll look in the movie. Like last time, the news website has a bunch of exclusive images from the set of James Gunn’s Superman, and these ones include pictures of the great Nathan Fillion as the Guy Gardner Green Lantern and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl. Edi Gathegi is also in the pics as Mr. Terrific, as, of course, is David Corenswet as Superman. You can see a few of the 48 images below, again courtesy of Cleveland.com:
I’m not overly thrilled with these new superhero looks. Of course, we have to take into account that these are from the set, and I’m sure special effects will be used in post-production to add things like Hawkgirl’s wings. But the costumes look a little too goofy for me right now. Hawkgirl’s outfit is boring and generic, not the cool warrior duds she traditionally wears. And Guy Gardner’s wig is just awful; I know it’s probably going to be a little striking no matter what just because it’s not Nathan Fillion’s natural hair color, but there’s got to be something better than this to put on his head. Guy’s costume is better than Hawkgirl’s, if only because it’s more appropriate for his character, but that wig is bad. I still like Mr. Terrific’s look, though; even that thing on his back that I assume is a jet pack is kind of neat. As for Superman, he looks the same as he has, and I still think it’s a mixed bag; I like the coloring (it looks a bit darker in some of these shots, I think because this is during and after a battle), and I’m very happy he has his trunks back, but I wish he had the classic S, and the bagginess just looks weird. But my favorite part of these images is seeing Superman hugging the kids; that’s what I want from Superman: a wholesome guy who honestly cares. I want this movie to be great, and I’m certainly not calling time of death, but I’m having very mixed reactions to each new image or piece of information.
