You read that correctly… a rare, first edition, holographic (holo) Charizard card from the 1999 Pokémon base set sold for a “measly” $420,000 at an auction. The card was sold through PWCC Marketplace during the March Premier Auction. This sale breaks all the previous records for this specific card! The card is in perfect, mint condition, and one out of three-thousand copies worldwide. Only one hundred-and-twenty-one of these cards meet the ten/ten perfect score rating!
A Charizard is a “dual-type fire/flying Pokémon introduced in Generation I that evolves from a Chameleon to a Charmander.”
A Charizard card had previously sold for $336,000 earlier this year, and in 2020, a Charizard card of a similar type sold for $360,000! Other Pokémon cards have sold for $300,000 too! There is a massive Pokémon collector named Gary Haase, or, rather, “King Pokemon,” who has a collection worth at least ten million. If you have a Charizard card, you better keep it safe, and I sure hope your mother didn’t throw out your old Pokémon cards.
