Accident Closes Disney Tram Service at Animal Kingdom

Theme park enthusiasts who wanted to see the wildlife at Disney’s Animal Kingdom had a bigger hassle getting into the park than they expected today. According to WDW News Today, the Disney Tram Service to the Animal Kingdom park at Disney World was shut down because an SUV “somehow got stuck on the barriers outside” the park. This barrier is made up of a series of poles that separate the Tram service from the regular traffic of park guests and their cars. The position of the SUV after it crashed into the barrier – it’s suspended on one or more of the poles – prevented the Disney Tram from conducting its service as usual, forcing it to shut down, which must have thrilled people who wanted to get into Animal Kingdom without losing all their energy before they even entered the park. A social media user called @Mateogf98 shared a picture of the accident on Instagram (image via WDW News Today):

I don’t know for sure that this person was drunk, but I think it’s safe to assume they were. I mean, it’s either that or they got into a car chase with Jason Bourne. Joking aside, I hope nobody was hurt in that accident, on which there are no details in the WDW News Today piece. Those are metal poles, so it’s pretty dangerous. And who knows how it happened? It could have been something unavoidable that wasn’t anyone’s fault. It’s funny because car accidents happen all the time, unfortunately, but you don’t expect something like this when you go to a place like Disney World. Like much of the crime that occurs there, it makes sense that it would happen, given how many people visit the parks on a daily basis (not as many nowadays, but it’s still a lot of people in a general sense). A car accident has to be a fairly regular occurrence with these kinds of crowds. But even with that, this is a bad one that tied up traffic for the park services, not just the guests in the parking lot. The Tram Service takes parkgoers from the parking lot to the park entrance and back at all Disney World parks except the Magic Kingdom, so it’s not like nobody could get into Animal Kingdom; it’s just that they’d have to do a lot more walking than they normally would, and given how much walking there is inside the parks, a lot of guests had a rough one today.
