Today it was reported that beloved actress and singer Angela Lansbury passed away just under a week away before her 97th birthday. Lansbury was known for roles on the stage and screen, including Murder, She Wrote, The Manchurian Candidate, and the 1991 classic Beauty and the Beast. Read a statement from her family here:
“The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1.30am today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday.
“In addition to her three children, Anthony, Deirdre and David, she is survived by three grandchildren, Peter, Katherine and Ian, plus five great grandchildren and her brother, producer Edgar Lansbury. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Peter.”
My bias (or perhaps my age) will show here, but my favorite character she played was Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast. But she was always good, even in lesser projects like Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
What was your favorite role of Lansbury’s, or what was your favorite film or show you saw her in? Let us know in the comments, and may she rest in peace.
