Deadline reports that Brendan Fraser has joined the cast of Martin Scorsese’s next project, Killers of the Flower Moon. Fraser will star alongside Jesse Plemons, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and others. The film is based on a crime drama book by David Grann. It will delve into the murders of members of the Osage Nation in the 1920s. Fraser will reportedly play lawyer WS Hamilton. Eric Roth wrote the screenplay, and Killers of the Flower Moon is being produced for Apple Studios and Imperative Entertainment. Fraser has also been cast in Brothers, a comedy from Max Barbakow, Etan Coen, and Macon Blair. He will be appearing alongside Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, and Peter Dinklage.
The Fraser-ssance continues, and I’m here for it. I loved Brendan Fraser for his appearances in movies like George of the Jungle and The Mummy when I was little. Ever since Fraser starred in Trust alongside Donald Sutherland and Hilary Swank, interest in his career has been revitalized online. You love to see it, and I love to see him getting prominent roles again. I also really enjoy him on Doom Patrol, and his cameo on Titans was alright for what it was – it was an Emmy-worthy performance compared to the rest of that show. I must admit, I hadn’t even thought he would be pairing with such a prestigious director as Scorsese, but it’s great news. He has the chops for it, and this will undoubtedly be an interesting movie, and a challenging one, given the grim subject matter. It’s also interesting to see Fraser cast in a historical crime drama and a comedy around the same time. It showcases the range people often deny him credit for possessing. There are few things the people love more than a good comeback story, and Fraser’s was a long time coming. I look forward to checking out Killers of the Flower Moon, Brothers, and whatever he appears in next.
