Charges Against Rick and Morty’s Justin Roiland Dropped

Another victim of MeToo/cancel culture/political correctness/whatever name the Beast currently uses has been vindicated. As reported by Variety, the domestic violence charges against Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland have been dropped. The charges against Roiland, which were alleged by a former girlfriend of his, included “domestic battery with corporal injury” and “false imprisonment with menace, violence, fraud, and/or deceit.” The charges resulted in Adult Swim, which produces Rick and Morty, and Hulu, which produces Roiland’s other series, Solar Opposites and Koala Man, cutting ties with him and firing him from each of those shows. An Orange County District Attorney’s office spokeswoman said, “We dismissed the charges today as a result of having insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.”

As for Roiland, who has been silent throughout the entire ordeal (which is absolutely the right thing to do when facing criminal charges, or really any kind of legal situation), he made a statement that he shared on Twitter:

Variety says that Adult Swim and Hulu “declined to comment” about Roiland’s vindication. I assume that means they’re going to hide in their caves instead of addressing that they fired an innocent man. I believe that’s what the smear campaign against Roiland was about, covering themselves in case he was cleared. In a sane world, Roiland would at least be offered his jobs back, but I don’t think that will happen. Absent that, I hope he sues these people till they beg him to stop. This can’t be allowed anymore; the destruction of a person’s life before they even see their day in court is evil, and a vindicated cancel culture victim needs to have a recourse so devastating it makes doing this to someone else unthinkable. Whatever happens, I hope Roiland does end up rebuilding his life and career and that he’s even more successful down the road.
