Look up in the sky… or at your computer screen, because the Man of Steel is currently earthbound. Superman, the upcoming superhero film that will kick off James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, is currently filming, and Cleveland.com, a news website based in the Ohio city, has images from the set. There are quite a few pictures on the site (you can’t read the article without subscribing, but you can still see the pics), so I’ll just share a few of the better ones. The images feature David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, plus some others I can’t make out. You can see them below, again courtesy of Cleveland.com:
I’m still torn on Superman’s suit. I like that it has the red shorts – Superman just doesn’t feel like Superman without them – and I love the bright colors, but I don’t like the shape of the S on his chest or the weird piping, and it looks a little baggy in certain shots, which is odd. Maybe they’re going to fiddle with it in post-production, and the bagginess is necessary for some CGI enhancements, but that’s just a guess. David Corenswet, on the other hand, looks fantastic in character, and I hope he makes for a great Superman. Lois Lane and Petty White look fine, but it’s hard to judge that, really; they’re wearing business attire, which is how those characters would dress. I’m more interested in what they’re doing in those pictures; it looks like they’re walking out of some alien ship or pod or some other sci-fi vehicle. Mr. Terrific looks right as well, for what little I know about the character. I’m not sure who the woman in the pink dress is; I initially thought either Miss Tessmacher or Kat Grant, but she doesn’t look like Sara Sampaio or Mikaela Hoover. This scene looks like the aftermath of some big action sequence; I wonder what’s going on and how that ship or whatever it is Lois and Perry are walking out of figures into it. I kind of hope they were about to crash, and Superman saved them; we need to see some big, satisfying Superman rescues in this movie.
Thanks again to Celeveland.com for the images!
At a certain point, the CW made half the cast of all their DC shows gay. It got so ridiculous it became funny. Like, Barry Allen and Oliver Queen both had gay kids? That seems fairly unlikely.
the CW made Mr. Terrific gay. Hope that’s not the case here. Don’t know much about the character, but I liked the recent comic book run of The Terrifics.
