Cobra Kai Season 6 Announcement Video Strikes Hard

Netflix is stretching out its final crane kick. Today, the streamer released an announcement video for season 6 of Cobra Kai, the sequel series to the Karate Kid movies. Cobra Kai’s final season will consist of fifteen episodes, fifty percent more than the show’s usual ten; however, they will be split into three parts spread out over the next several months. Part 1 will begin streaming on July 18, with Part 2 arriving on November 28 and the “Finale Event” coming sometime in 2025. All the major players are returning, with Ralph Macchio and William Zabka once again in the lead roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. You can see the Cobra Kai season 6 announcement video below:

Whatever the news or circumstances, I’m always glad to hear something about Cobra Kai. I love the show, and it’s one of the exceedingly few revivals of an old franchise that does its progenitor justice – and, in this case, makes it better. While it’s tough to see it end, it’s probably better to have it go out on a high note, which I’m sure season 6 will be, than to hang around too long and lose what made it great. On that score, I’m not opposed to chopping up the season like this; it makes it feel like there’s more Cobra Kai coming than there really is, even though this is an extended season. The way they phrase it, I think the first two parts will have seven episodes each, with the “Finale Event” next year being a feature-length finale. That’s just a guess, though; maybe they’ll all have five episodes. As expected, it appears John Kreese is the final villain, with Kim backing him up. This feels right; I like how they’ve humanized Kreese throughout the show while still making him feel like Johnny’s nemesis and a legitimate threat. The beauty of Cobra Kai is in how no one is all good or all bad, aside from a select few (like Terry Silver), and the distinction between hero and villain is in what someone strives to be, with the understanding that anyone can change for the better. I’m going to have to watch the previous seasons again before season 6 starts (twist my arm, why don’cha?), but I’m looking forward to seeing how it ends for these amazing characters.

People say standards have lowered. Cobra Kai is amazing either way in my opinion. If it was released 15 years ago before Wokeness, it would still be a fantastic show either way!

Also, I hope Silver doesn’t return. He was awesome, but I feel his story is over. That duel with Daniel felt like his final defeat.

I agree, and I think he is done. That was perfect; he was Daniel’s nemesis and the manifestation of the demons he was trying to conquer, as Kreese is for Johnny.

Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg are the writers and super fans of Karate Kid and they are nerds and geeks that were just into it. I like how they waited so long until they had something worthy to tell, which is, what happened to Johnny?
I have watched every season and it’s one of the only shows that I have ever done that with.
It makes no sense that the writing of the schools and philosophies are better in this than in Star Wars.
Miguel is a great new character and I could see him growing up and maturing and being a Sensei one day.

Seriously, I never thought I’d be more curious about what was happening with the bad guy from The Karate Kid than the heroes of Star Wars. It’s insane, but I’m grateful for it now that I have it. And Miguel is fantastic; they get everything right, from introducing new characters to honoring the old ones. Even Mr. Miyagi is done more justice than Luke and company; he’s not physically in the show, but you feel his presence in every seen Daniel’s in.
