Develop at Ubisoft Program is Only for Women and “Non-Binary” Applicants

As Ubisoft crumbles, it’s keeping its priorities set on DEI. The video game studio behind Star Wars Outlaws, which is currently embarrassing everyone involved with it on multiple fronts, just wrapped this year’s Develop at Ubisoft, a mentorship program in which Ubisoft veterans teach college students or “fresh graduates with less than 2 years of experience” the ins and outs of video game development, specifically game design and programming. That sounds nice enough and pretty standard for a company, but the guidelines for applicants reveal the true purpose of the program. You’re only allowed to apply for Develop at Ubisoft is you’re a woman or “non-binary,” with the stated goal being “to build the most creative, diverse and inclusive teams” and “empowering and supporting under-represented genders.” Something tells me the “creative” part is not the emphasis. I mean, look at Ubisoft’s X post about Develop at Ubisoft:

I’ve seen less rainbow imagery in pride month displays at department stores. Many are asking if this is even legal, and my guess is that it probably isn’t unless there’s a similar program for heterosexual men (or “binary” men, I suppose, although you’d only be one-half of the equation – these modern terms are nonsensical), and I’d bet everything I ever owned or ever will that Ubisoft doesn’t have a program like that. It would be hilarious if some heterosexual guy sued them for discrimination over the Develop at Ubisoft program, and the way the pendulum has been swinging, I think that’s entirely possible. In recent years, nobody would bother because it wouldn’t go anywhere – or, at least, that’s what everyone would have assumed. But now, I think Ubisoft could very well lose that case in court. They may get a few wins in some of the smaller courts if they get whacko activist judges, but eventually, someone will likely rule that they can’t discriminate based on gender. Imagine the tantrum they’d take if they’re forced to open up the Develop at Ubisoft program to straight men; it’d be worth it just to read the revised wording on the website.

Given the last few weeks – and, if you look at their stock history, the last few years – you have to wonder why Ubisoft is still concerning itself with DEI to this extent. Maybe Blackrock/Vanguard/Another Hydra Head is giving them money, or maybe the Guillemots, who own the largest stake in the company, are so woke they don’t care about money (which is the luxury of the already-wealthy and the insane, which sometimes coincide), but for whatever reason, they’re pulling a Dark Knight Joker and setting fortunes on fire to send a message. This isn’t just supposition and behind-the-scenes corporate business, either; we can see Ubisof’s march off a cliff in real-time. Star Wars Outlaws is underselling, and the game is such a demonstrable train wreck that shill media cries about evil gamers and their isms ring even more hollow than they normally do. Watch Mauler demonstrate how awful this game is on The Real BBC:

On top of that – and surely because of it – Ubisoft’s stock is still dropping. A few days ago, it fell to €13.24, which is $14.62, and that was enough for one of the company’s major investors, AJ Investments, to write a letter demanding massive changes, including the removal of the management team, and even threatening a proxy war. Today, the stock price is even lower: €11.73, or $13.01. This is a company whose stock reached over €85 ($94.24) in 2021; no wonder AJ Investments is pissed, and I doubt they’re the only one. Obviously, the Develop at Ubisoft program was scheduled before Star Wars Outlaws crash-landed, but I’d think they’d be embarrassed enough to either end programs like this or at least stop patting themselves on the back for their inclusivity while the rest of the world is laughing at them. Or maybe they just want to look good in whatever way they can, even if it’s only to themselves.

Some genius is going to make a bundle on that idea. Armies of pony soldiers with dog faces as the enemies.
