Disney Earnings Call: Most Disney+ Users Childless Adults?

A recent earnings call revealed that over 50% of Disney+ subscribers are childless adults. Some take this as an indictment of the company’s performance of late. Others have noted factors like Disney+ being included with the Hulu/ESPN+ bundle, the increase in adults without children, and the number of adult Disney fans who populate the parks and utilize their services.

Personally, I don’t find this surprising, and I don’t care. Most kids I know (which isn’t a lot) only like individual characters or movies like Moana and Frozen. They don’t identify with the Disney brand like prior generations, and yes, for various reasons, some parents have banned Disney from their homes. I imagine most Disney fans are adults chasing the feeling of childhood and some semblance of the way things were in a nebulous sense. People tend to be nostalgic as they get older, whereas most kids seem more into video games and Lego than The Little Mermaid or The Lion King
