Dragon Age: The Veilguard is Heavily Woke

Dragon Age: The Veilguard looks like it will be more woke than anyone imagined it would be. There were already confirmed instances of identity politics at play, like the ability to choose pronouns “separate of gender,” as well as the weird design of a character called Taash, whom many thought was “trans-coded” or “queer-coded,” or whatever the hell means whatever the hell in stuff that used to be fun. And as much as this stuff has become prolific in video games and other forms of entertainment, it’s easy to say that people are reading too much into it and insulting the looks of an animated video game character (who has feelings, you know); in that way, “coding” is the perfect cover for this kind of propaganda. But the developers behind Dragon Age: The Veilguard couldn’t stop there, and they went whole hog into making their game as woke as possible, vindicating everyone who saw the writing on the wall.

You know the character Taash, the one people were saying looked like a trans stand-in? Well, Taash flat-out declares pronounself “non-binary” in the game. Look at these screenshots from Twitch streamer Nuhre, who goes by God Empress of Mankind on X:

The game also has an option while building your character to give them “top scars” to indicate that they are transgender because, obviously, a world of dragons, magic, and medieval-style villages would have gender transition surgery:

Dear Lord, saying that fantasy characters are not comfortable as either sex is ridiculous enough, but Dragon Age: The Veilguard goes so far as to have someone say they’re “non-binary” and declare alternative pronouns, plus include gender transition surgery scars. Whatever your opinions about this sort of thing are in real life, you have to admit this stops the story and gameplay cold. There’s no way in hell this is organic for characters in a high fantasy world who fight monsters and stuff. This is nothing but a mid-game lecture from a bunch of smug hippie weirdos who are determined to force their sociopolitical views into everything. They have no interest in whether their customers enjoy this game; they just want to make sure they speak out about the most important issue on the planet since man discovered fire. (Although, who says it was a man, you patriarchal fiend?) It’s pure insanity, and it’s going to be hell for them to sell this to gamers who’ve proven they’re sick and tired of woke garbage in video games.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard also lectures gamers about “the benefits of a multicultural background,” which you can see in the following screenshot courtesy of X user Wasting Sanity:

As That Park Place points out, the director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is Corinne Busche, a “queer trans woman” who called the Dragon Age games “inherently queer” and “ a place where LGBTQIA+ folks can see people like themselves.” Okay… so why change anything? I can buy that it was a fantasy world that appealed to people like this for whatever reason, as fantasy has a way of appealing to disparate groups of people in general. But why make it so specifically “LGBTQIA+” that it then stops appealing to everyone else? It sounds like it was perfect the way it was, and now, this person is hijacking something he admits was for everybody and claiming it as his own, making it an exclusive club. Apparently, this person’s X bio describes him as a “queerosexual gendermancer and a supporter of Black Lives Matter,” so clearly, there are a few apples missing from the bushel here. And when you hire someone this crazy, you get the following:

Nobody wanted to buy Dragon Age: The Veilguard even before these screenshots came out. What do you think the Steam numbers will look like once gamers who haven’t seen these reports get to the “non-binary” scene? I think they’ll drop like a rock from their likely low starting point because, again, people are getting sick of this. Pronouns and tangents about being “non-binary” and discussions about multiculturalism aren’t fun, and they don’t fit with an escapist fantasy video game, and BioWare is the next game studio that’s going to find that out the hard way.
