Quentin Tarantino is heading back to the sixties as the first Once Upon A time in… Hollywood trailer has finally been released. Right from the jump, we get to see the classic Columbia logo, which, to me, instantly sets the tone for the kind of trailer we’re about to see. What follows is some banter between Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, along with appearances by Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, Damon Herriman in his second appearance as the insidious Charles Manson, and Mike Moh as Bruce Lee. This trailer is typical Tarantino, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Check out the Once Upon A time in… Hollywood trailer below…
As I’ve talked about before, I’ve really been looking forward to this film, as I love period pieces about old Hollywood. Heck, I was probably the only one on the planet disappointed that USA decided not to go forward with their Paradise Pictures pilot, so the Once Upon A time in… Hollywood trailer only made me more excited to see the Django Unchained filmmaker’s take on old Hollywood and, particularly after this trailer, Mike Moh’s performance as Bruce Lee. When it was confirmed that the legendary martial artist would appear in the film, I was intrigued, as I had felt that, despite what I thought was a good performance by Philip Ng in the 2016 George Nolfi film Birth of the Dragon, the actor had yet to be given his due on the big screen. So seeing Moh’s spot-on interpretation of the actor in the trailer not only speaks to Moh’s talent, but also speaks to Tarantino’s ability to bring out the best in his actors. Aside from the Once Upon A time in… Hollywood trailer feeling far more like a full trailer than a teaser, I can’t wait to see the latest Tarantino opus when it arrives in theaters on July 26.
