G4’s Adam Sessler Attacks Former Kotaku Writer Alyssa Mercante

There’s a certain satisfaction that comes with learning that the world’s worst people hate each other, too. Amid the smoke screens of unity, the idea that the gamers are the bad guys and the games journalists are the vanguard arrayed against them, the truth is that they think of each other the same way everyone else thinks of them. Remember a few years ago when Frosk made that screeching lecture on G4 – which, as a result, no longer exists – about gamers liking attractive women while all the guys around her cheered her on? The one doing that phony clap as he stares dead-eyed into the camera like a zombie on antidepressants is Adam Sessler, former host of the TV show XPlay and editor-in-chief of games content for the G4 network. Since G4’s dissolution following Frosk insulting their audience, Sessler has pretty much disappeared; he has a blog called I Am Not Your Monkey (which sounds like a cry for help more than anything else, but to be fair, I didn’t read it), and it looks like he still posts on social media, but that’s about it. Today, however, he moved his aim from the usual target of his ire – gamers – to another former games journalist… if only momentarily.

On the BlueSky platform (is anyone surprised he’s on BlueSky?), Adam Sessler, in response to a comment about Kotaku’s fall from grace, whole-heartedly agreed, then talked about Alyssa Mercante, the loon who threatened to fight anyone who disagreed with her about DEI while making the most obnoxious face she could. Mercante was also the writer of that piece on Kotaku defending Sweet Baby Inc. and admitting to “infiltrating” Kabrutus’ Sweet Baby Inc. Discord server. Since then, Mercante has done some truly heinous stuff, like harassing Jeff of SmashJT’s wife on Facebook. According to Sessler and the fellow he was talking to on BlueSky, she’s also said some anti-Semetic things, or aligned herself with anti-Semites, or something to that effect. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it got Sessler ranting about someone you would probably have assumed he would see as an ally. Here are the posts, collected by Vara Dark on X (who took Mercante up on that fight she threatened, which Mercante backed out of because of course she did):

According to That Park Place, Adam Sessler also talked about Mercante’s contribution to Kotaku’s downfall, railing against the “bullshit” she “put the publication through” via “supporting anti-Semitic morons on Twitch.” Again, this is stuff I’d never heard before, but it is amusing to see people who seemed so ideologically aligned go after each other like this. And it’s not over her attacks on gamers, either, which makes sense because Sessler previously clapped during one such diatribe (admittedly in as phony a way as possible). Infiltrating private Discord servers and harassing someone’s wife are fine, apparently, and I’m sure no one is surprised by that. And, as if on cue, Sessler reaffirmed his hatred of gamers by insulting them on his BlueSky account, which Vara Dark also shared on X:

It makes you wonder why a guy like Adam Sessler got into games journalism to begin with, but it’s probably the same reason a lot of them do: they’re not particularly good at anything, and it provided an environment where they could fake their way through the topic well enough to coast. It explains why Sessler hasn’t done much of anything after G4’s collapse. There’s not much to this outside of some laughs at the rats eating each other now that their food sources are gone, but seeing them reveal what they really think of each other can offer you some reassurance if you ever doubted that you were right about these types of people – doubly so if those anti-Semitism charges are correct. Vara Dark has a video on the subject you can watch below:

The charge of “antisemitism” is thrown about on everyone now.
Imagine being afraid of a girl.

Alyssa needs to be aware that the ADL has threatened using people who came up with exploding pager attacks on people labeled “antisemitic.”
