The best way to fight cancel culture is to double down when it comes for you. Recently, after Gina Carano was announced as a guest at the Vancouver Fan Expo, a couple of disturbed cosplayers expressed their displeasure, an online petition to ban her got signatures, and a Canadian news outlet decided to amplify what is ultimately a minor issue. But you know how these things go; the loudest voices get their way, and the legions of normal people who want to have fun lose out – not to mention the cancel-ee. This time, however, the organizers of the event stood their ground, refusing to cancel the former Mandalorian star and MMA fighter. Since then, they’ve gone a step further: Gina Carano will now be at the Vancouver Fan Expo for two days instead of one!
Vancouver.
We’ve added a day to the fan expo.
I’ll now be there both:
Sun/Mon
February 18 & 19Looking forward to meeting you.
If you’ve never been to one of these I highly recommend. I can’t believe how much I enjoy them. ✨ https://t.co/AcFn2M1cab

I’m happy to see this because it’s the right way to respond to bullying tactics. Not only do you refuse to give in, but you add insult to injury. Show them that every time they do this, they’ll get more of what they don’t want. And, just like last time, the likes on Gina Carano’s tweet announcing her second day – or, more accurately, a change in her first day – at the expo greatly outnumber the comments and retweets; in other words, way more people are happy about this than are grinding their teeth in a state of triggering. It should be a good time for anyone who wants it to be; if you’re determined to piss and moan, well, you’ll probably enjoy yourself too.
Gina Carano will be at the Vancouver Fan Expo on Sunday, February 18, and Monday, February 19. You can get tickets here.
