GKids will distribute Hayao Miyazaki’s How Do You Live? in North America. This news comes in the wake of the anime film’s Japan release. This movie, named after the 1937 Japanese novel of the same name by Genzaburo Yoshino (though an original story, not an adaptation), is notable not only for being Miyazaki’s return to cinemas; the film isn’t doing a marketing campaign of any type. No posters or trailers have been released. The film has also received a new international title: The Boy and the Heron. It was released in Japan today, and will arrive in the US sometime later this year.
This is unsurprising, as GKids distributes a lot of anime and other foreign animation over here. However, I am excited for this movie and eager to see what it’s about.
But what do you think? Sound off in the comments below!
