There are always rumors regarding the Wizarding World. Every few months, there is some wild speculation that Cursed Child will be made into a movie, the Hogwarts Legacy game will be turned into a show… and now, the latest rumor is that HBO will be remaking the beloved Harry Potter films into a show. This is all speculation until officially stated, as there are no identified sources at the time of this writing, and Warner Bros. has not commented yet.
However, The Rowling Library has other information:
Update:
A source with knowledge of the situation has told us that the story has several inaccuracies. The idea of a TV series is "in talks" but it is nowhere “near a deal”. Also it would not be for HBO, it would be a Max Original deal. 💣… pic.twitter.com/WCIjSIKklO

This story sounds like it is still in talks and not nearly as progressed as the rumors swirling around make it seem. It also appears that this would be a Max Original deal, not an HBO deal, meaning it would only be available through the HBO Max app (or whatever it’s called when/if the show happens) and not the HBO premium cable station.
However, Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer for HBO and HBO Max, liked a tweet. Deadline has now reported that J.K. Rowling is in talks to be a producer of the show.
Casey Bloys (@Caseybloys), Chief Content Officer at HBO, liked this tweet where he is being congratulated for the new Harry Potter TV show that has been reported by @Lucas_Shaw for Bloomberg.
This could be taken as confirmation of the scoop! ⚡️🚂🦉 pic.twitter.com/BGEyxMGmqP
