Hollywood Turns on Rachel Zegler

Now that, barring a miraculous comeback in the coming weeks, Snow White is a confirmed bomb, the finger-pointing has begun, and Rachel Zegler appears to be the target. The star of the live-action remake of Disney’s first feature-length animated film has been getting attention for the past year or so for her arrogant attitude, insulting remarks directed towards the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – one of the most famous and beloved movies ever made – and dismissive comments about her co-star, Andrew Burnap, who plays no-longer-a-prince Charming, or whatever they call him in this one. She’s also made alienating political statements about the Israel-Palestine conflict and President Donald Trump and his supporters, which likely angered over half the country. For some time, the press vilified anyone who had a problem with any of this, portraying Zegler as the victim of whatever the buzzword was that week, partly for ideological reasons but almost certainly also to protect Disney and its upcoming film.

Now, however, the damage is done, and they’re throwing Rachel Zegler under the bus. Variety has a piece detailing Disney’s attempts to curtail Zegler’s incessant blunders, which didn’t work, and features comments from industry sources and commentary from themselves explaining what many of us in 199-Fellowship circles have been saying since this mess started. For example, they point out that Zegler’s “free Palestine” comment wasn’t so much a problem just because she said it but because she added it to a post promoting Snow White, tying her sentiments to the movie. This makes the film seem politically charged and intended for only a certain segment of the population, even if this isn’t the case (and while I’m sure Snow White is terrible, I sincerely doubt it promotes either side of the Gaza conflict). By contrast, Gal Gadot’s comments about Israel were not tied to Snow White in any way and were limited to expressing sympathy for the victims of a specific terrorist attack. And speaking of Gadot, sources told Variety that she received death threats following Zegler’s comments, and Disney increased her security. They also say that the film’s producer, Mark Platt, had to fly to New York twice – once after the “free Palestine” comment and once after Zegler’s wishing that Trump supporters “never know peace” – to get her to stop insulting people and to retract her statements, which she only did the second time. Disney then had to hire someone to ensure that any future posts she made were not going to harm the movie. But the best comment comes not from this article but from Mark Platt’s son, Jonah Platt, in response to some random internet Karen criticizing his father for telling Zegler to shut up (image courtesy of That Park Place):

Rachel Zegler, Snow White, Jonah Platt

Jonah Platt’s comment is excellent, not just because it’s nice to see him defend his dad like that (although it is) but because he’s absolutely right, particularly because, according to him, she signed a contract agreeing to promote the movie, then hijacked that promotion to virtue signal about her politics to the film’s detriment. And for the record, I don’t think Rachel Zegler is the only reason Snow White is tanking; based on what I’ve read and heard, including in Virginia’s review of the film, it’s a bad movie all around and has lots of problems that will drive audiences away. But Zegler was absolutely a factor in its failure, and considering what a smug, entitled little brat she is, I’m perfectly fine watching Hollywood and the entertainment media turn on her. You can’t behave that way, spit in the face of people who gave you every chance, insult your prospective customers, drive away business for as many people as worked on and invested in Snow White, and expect there to be no repercussions. This looks to me like the first sign that Zegeler’s career is effectively over; nobody is going to want to work with this miserable diva again, even more so now that she’s seen as the primary reason her big would-be blockbuster film is set to lose Disney a good $100 million (at least). Maybe she’ll serve as a cautionary tale for future young actors and actresses tempted to take the golden ticket they’ve been given for granted.

And now, let’s watch Megyn Kelly’s hilarious comments about Rachel Zegler again:

There is a clip out there of her singing in a village and this whole movie really looks like Snow Wicked. Lots of songs, but her being the leader she knows she can be. I have not seen it and never will, but part of me thinks the youth should somehow find a way to stream it for free just to see the bad intentions that the machine has for them.

The guy’s comments may seem substantial to anyone who hates Rachel Zegler, which is understandable, but my opinion is that everyone involved, the thousands who worked on this, all should hang their heads in shame. It’s really a desconstruction of not only the original, but the entire era prior, with all of the singin’, dancin’, hootin’ and hollerin’ about Kalergi and replacement and disrespect to the original values that made a former people in this former country. Wholesomeness was replaced with feminism and uppity attitudes and really, it all came down to color with Larry Fink, Ari Emanuel and Bob Iger hating westerners and hating Walt. The narcissism is on the part of the occupier people in power, such as Gadot, Iger, Ari and Fink. They are the problem and they are the narcissists and they are the reason the west is being invaded and looted and Snow Wicked is a product of their attitude that they hated Walt’s art, culture and heritage.

As much as I loathe Zegler, she’s just a scapegoat at this point. The resulting movie had little to do with her at all and she really tipped the public off to the attitudes that young people are hit with in institutions. Don’t need no man cuz they are all creepy stalkers and I am woman, hear me roar, so stunning and brave taking on original sin of racism and all the mind rot skullduggery that this commie Bolshevik system ruins them with.

Things will only get worse with neocons in both parties and corruption and bribery in both parties and that leads to this kind of mocking and taunting and spiking of the ball on destroying and deconstructing cultural art history.

So, the only one I might like less than Zegler, Ari, Fink, Iger and Gadot, are types like Jonah Platt who continue to scapegoat and coverup that this whole thing is a disrespectful mess. Just like Wicked, Snow Wicked had an intention of racial agitation propaganda while that moguls and banksters continue pulling the strings from out of view and will remain unnamed and not called out for their divisive ways.
