INTRODUCING, IDOT!!
Now, many may be wondering, “IDOT”? As in, “Illinois Department of Transportation”? No, this is merely a typo, which was created as memes usually are within the 199— in the chat. “Idot” was born on July 18 during a Geeks + Gamers Daily show, which airs every week, Monday-Friday, on the Geeks + Gamers YouTube channel. On the show were Jay (Drunk3PO), Beardo (FearTheBeardo), and Steph (My Nerdy Home), and part way through the video, a single chat caught Beardo’s eye by a chatter with the name “Create Channel,” so Beardo highlighted it; the chat read, “SAY YES TO JOE. IDOTS.” The panel then proceeded to make fun of the typo, and the chat itself followed suit in a similar fashion, as when a certain simp appears. Thus, “Idot” was born and welcomed into the many memes and lore of the 199.

These are the moments that truly make the whole Fellowship/199 the most authentic and genuine group on the internet, where we all get together, even when we’re apart, and have good laughs amongst friends. It’s even more of a group effort in that, because of this moment on a livestream, a mascot was born from the chat, from the people who make it possible to do all the things Geeks + Gamers does, from simply streaming, making videos, and the meetups where we can all come together in person to create new bonds of friendship or strengthen old ones. What better way to name our new mascot, one we hope you’ll enjoy as much as we do? Idot is fun, mischievous, and a fan of all the things you are; he’s essentially the embodiment of the geek spirit, an adventurous little troublemaker who loves to make merry at cons, at the parks, or at home playing video games with his friends. Idot’s unveiling is in the early stages, but here’s a sketch to show you what he’ll look like:
We’ve been kicking around the idea of a mascot behind the scenes for a while, a fun way to bring the Geeks + Gamers brand to life, and Idot will be coming to you on merchandise, here on the website, and more in the near future. Sometimes, he’ll be wearing his regular outfit; other times, he’ll be cosplaying as a whole host of figures, depending on where he’s going. For starters, he’s on a t-shirt celebrating Geeks + Gamers’ appearance at the first-ever SpaceCon in San Antonio, Texas, this October, the details of which will be coming soon. For a limited time, you can order the Geeks + Gamers SpaceCon t-shirt featuring the debut of Idot from our friends at 221B Tactical. You can also buy a Geeks + Gamers 199 fitted hat, something you guys have wanted for a long time. And that’s what Idot symbolizes most: our gratitude to you for being the lifeblood of Geeks + Gamers. You can also buy the shirt and hat in a bundle at a savings. Click the links below for the gear, and get your orders in fast because the campaign is scheduled to end on September 17 at 11:59 PM Eastern:

But that’s only if you like Idot, and here’s the rub: if you don’t like him, he goes. We’re not gonna pull a Disney and force something our community doesn’t want. If you like Idot, let us know by ordering the t-shirt and future merch; if you don’t, make your voice heard and ignore it. Don’t be afraid to speak up in the chat or on social media, either. It’s totally up to you, and as always, we’re only happy if you’re happy. And if you don’t like him but still want some Geeks + Gamers swag, you can find plenty more cool stuff on our 221B Tactical page. But we think you’re gonna love Idot as much as we do, and we hope you’ll want to see a lot more of him down the line. Thank you for your continued support; it means the world to us.
