James Gunn is tweeting again, although what he “revealed” about his DC plans should have been pretty obvious to anyone paying a modicum of attention. It all started with a seemingly innocent post about Superman, the 1978 classic from Richard Donner.
Superman premiered 44 years ago today. ❤️💫 pic.twitter.com/FRtl4noDwI

Plenty of people posted about the anniversary of Superman, but Gunn is the co-CEO of DC Studios, so this naturally got people speculating that he could be hinting at something. But Gunn put that to bed right away:
I’m trying to say it’s the 44th anniversary of the premiere of Superman which is a great movie.
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) December 10, 2022
And I’m sure that’s true. What else could Gunn be saying with that tweet? “You guys probably didn’t consider this, but the new DC movies are gonna have Superman!” But he’s being playful, just kind of chatting with fans. He did confirm that Superman is a top priority for him, though, in case that was in doubt:
Yes of course. Superman is a huge priority, if not the biggest priority.

Then, things took a nasty turn when an account called The Den of Nerds said that Gunn doesn’t like Henry Cavill:
James Gunn does not like Henry Cavill

This likely has to do with rumors that Gunn and his partner-in-superheroics, Peter Safran, are getting ready to kick Cavill to the curb. But when pressed, Gunn responded decisively:
Sure: false.

Of course, this could be spin, and nobody in Gunn’s position is going to admit publicly that they dislike another Hollywood personality, especially one involved in his current endeavors (to whatever degree), and double-especially one so loved by fans. But he’s also probably telling the truth; whatever happens is business, not some personal attack on Cavill (unless there’s a lot we don’t know about going on behind the scenes). But then, The Den of Nerds cast aspersions, so Gunn kicked his rebuttal up a notch:
So weird. You seemed so plugged in! Anyway, I just had forty people reach out to me to say you just got kicked out of your Mom’s basement. So sorry, man.
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) December 10, 2022
Gunn seems really sick and tired of the rumor mill, and he probably knows which of these stories are true, which probably came from an honest place even if they aren’t quite on the money, and which are just made up, like this talk of him disliking Cavill appears to be. It calls to mind what he said about Cavill having a contract with him a few weeks ago.
I’m not sure if you’re purposely lying or being taken advantage of by someone lying to you, but, as I’ve stated on here before, NO ONE knows what’s happening at DC Studios right now other than me & Peter. That would include writing up any new contracts for anyone at this point.

Gunn also talked a bit about Green Lantern:
Important.
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) December 10, 2022
That’s not a priority for me and even much less of one for @VancityReynolds.
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) December 10, 2022
So, there you go. Superman is at the forefront, Green Lantern will be in the mix, likely without Ryan Reynolds, and we’ll know more when Gunn and Safran make it public.
