James Gunn has achieved Squad goals as the cast list and working title for the new Suicide Squad movie have been revealed, courtesy of Collider and Comicbook.com, respectively. In addition to the previously announced Idris Elba as a recast Deadshot, they have unveiled the likes of King Shark, Polka Dot Man, Ratcatcher, and Peacemaker as part of the team. While King Shark had become well-known to audiences thanks to the CW’s Flash TV series (where he was recently featured in a giant smackdown with Gorilla Grodd), it is the Peacemaker who is the most intriguing, in part because this is a role that is earmarked for Hollywood’s most loyal friend ever Dave Bautista. As much as I was hoping to see the former wrestler as Bane, I’m glad he will get his chance to put his stamp on a character few people had heard of, much in the same way he did with Drax.
With the working title of El Dorado, it makes one wonder what the lost city of gold has to do with the Suicide Squad’s latest adventure. While a lot of fans hope that they’ll face off with Black Adam, I’m just glad we’re getting the chance to see some new DC characters on the screen outside of the traditional (yes, I’m including Shazam) Justice League. Even with the original film, the Squad has always seemed to be a great conduit for introducing the lesser-known characters of the DC universe. With his just-announced return to Marvel, I can’t wait to see Gunn give a DC property a new beginning while also giving those lovable a-holes the ending they deserve.

Don’t hold my feet to the fire on this one… but, wasn’t it part of the Disney contracts that Marvel employees couldn’t work for DC during their time there? I’m pretty sure I read it on one of those clickbait articles about crazy Marvel Disney rules.
