Las Vegas Raiders’ Henry Ruggs III Charged With DUI

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated, resulting in a fiery crash that left one woman dead and another injured. He is currently facing DUI charges but could be on the hook for more – and probably should be.
Ruggs, the Raiders’ 1st round draft pick in 2020 (12th overall), crashed his Corvette into the back of a Toyota Rav4 at roughly 3:39 Tuesday morning in the Las Vegas Valley.
The front of Ruggs’ Corvette was completely mangled. Video from the scene shows the Rav4 engulfed in flames as eyewitnesses told TMZ that two men stopped at the crash to try (but ultimately fail) and put out the fire with an extinguisher. TMZ has footage below:
Las Vegas’ finest found a deceased 23-year-old woman in the Toyota and will be charging Ruggs with DUI resulting in death. LVMPD confirmed he “remained on the scene and showed signs of impairment,” according to The New York Post.
Kiara Je’nai Kilgo-Washington, the passenger in the Corvette Ruggs was driving under the influence, was also injured. The 22-year-olds were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
New video of the accident shows the smoldering Rav4, where the deceased woman lay.
The Raiders, no stranger to controversy this year, released a statement:

“The Raiders are aware of an accident involving Henry Ruggs III that occurred this morning in Las Vegas. We are devastated by the loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family. We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”
Records from the Clark County Detention Center show that Ruggs was booked at 2:11 PM, with a bail of $5,000. Pitiful.
The charge of DUI causing death comes with a possibility of 20 years in state prison without the option of parole in Nevada. In addition to that, Ruggs also currently has reckless driving charges. He deserves way more than that.
