Leaked Echo Footage Shows Fight with Daredevil

The upcoming Marvel series Echo is headed to Disney+ with little fanfare, and a recent leak seems designed to spark some. Twitter account Daredevil Updates has shared footage of a fight between the title character and Daredevil, played once again by Charlie Cox. Little has been reported about it yet, but it appears to be legit, unless Daredevil Updates has some serious AI game. Starring Alaqua Cox as the title character and Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin, Echo will arrive on Disney+ in its entirety on January 9, 2024. Reactions to this fight seem to be one of the two extremes, but I think it’s got some good and bad qualities. I like that they’re going for the harder, faster type of action seen in the Netflix shows, with hits that look like they hurt, or at least take the wind out of whoever was just kicked in the stomach. I also like that Daredevil is dominating this fight, with Echo’s only reprieve coming when he has to take on a random bad guy who dives into the fray. She knows she’s outmatched, too, as she frantically reaches for guns on nearby shelves, only for Matt to smack them away. On the other hand, some of the shots in this fight are bad, poorly masking that no one is actually getting hit; they’re filmed from bad angles, and you can clearly see fists and feet not connecting with their targets, stopping a good foot or so before they land. This was my big problem with the fights in Shang-Chi, which were ridiculously overpraised, and unless this is a rough cut that will be tightened by the time Echo airs, it looks like these fights will suffer from the same faults. I do wonder if this was an intentional leak because the best way to drum up interest in Echo is to emphasize Daredevil, especially in a cool fight scene; if so, I can’t fault them.
