Jack Black and Kyle Gass of Tenacious D were the big story, but they’re not the only celebrities and entertainment industry representatives with awful takes on the attempt to assassinate President Donald Trump that resulted in a bystander being killed. The first will come as no surprise, which sucks for Star Wars fans:
There is no place for violence in politics- EVER.
I’m grateful the former president is okay. That said, never forget that this is the guy who promised the NRA he would do “nothing” on gun control & told victims of shootings to “just get over it” #BanAssaultWeaponsNow pic.twitter.com/TjHv1AQkwo— Mark Hamill (@MarkHamill) July 14, 2024
That was Mark Hamill’s attempt to be gracious: saying he’s glad Trump is okay before suggesting he deserved it for believing in gun rights. “I don’t think you should be killed, but if something were to happen, well, you brought it on yourself for disagreeing with me.” The next day, when Trump appeared at the Republican National Convention, Hamill posted this:
1st APPEARANCE of ludicrously oversized ear bandage, apparently not needed prior to tonight. pic.twitter.com/Fkc83h3jBN

Mocking the injury Trump sustained during an assassination attempt is a clear sign that he’s totally opposed to killing his political rivals. It’s soul-crushing to see the guy who embodied Luke Skywalker be revealed as such a terrible human being in real life, but we’re in the demystification age. And this is far from the first time Hamill has behaved like this; he once attacked Trump’s grandson for no reason other than his connection to Trump. What a lovely man.

Next up is Mark Waid, a comic book writer who’s worked for DC and Marvel:
The article I posted where DC Comics writer, Mark Waid, celebrates the violence. pic.twitter.com/tqmWxrhRr5
— Grummz (@Grummz) July 17, 2024
Waid has since claimed that his posts were taken out of context, so he deleted them. I sincerely doubt this, though; Waid is big on injecting sociopolitical nonsense in his books; RazörFist commonly cites him as the author of the only bad Daredevil run for reasons like this:
Some of Mark Waid’s “greatest hits”.
Just so #Comicsgate understands the literary TITAN they’re up against, here. pic.twitter.com/YVC4mt65lM

Bleeding Fool has an article that runs down the many instances of comic book writers and artists calling for Trump’s death, including drawing villains so they resemble Trump or having them use some of Trump’s phrases. I don’t find it difficult to believe that these people celebrate almost getting what they say they wanted.
Another horrible sentiment came from Stephen Kick, the head of video game developer Nightdive Studios. A custom printing company called Sticker Mule posted about the assassination attempt, calling for unity and an end to violence while saying that their company has people from all political stripes and welcomes that:
Donald Trump was shot.
I don’t care what your political views are but the hate for Trump and his supporters has gone too far.
People are terrified to admit they support Trump. I’ve been scared myself.
Americans shouldn’t live in fear.
I support Trump. Many at Sticker Mule… pic.twitter.com/mydQpM8GVV
— Sticker Mule (@stickermule) July 14, 2024
Nice, right? Well, Stephen Kick didn’t think so:
This one sucks.
Stephen Kick, head of @NightdiveStudio, director of @systemshockgame and….a follower of mine…has boycotted @stickermule for supporting Trump after the assassination attempt, which is fine but the goes on:
“Anyone who supports this monster deserves to go… pic.twitter.com/3sqmBKdyLW
— Grummz (@Grummz) July 16, 2024
Not only does he seem to want Trump to die, but anyone who supports him as well. And what’s worse is that other Nightdive Studios employees are cheering him on, with one only saying that they should “tone it down” so they don’t look bad:
Two more @NightdiveStudio employees come forth to support their boss’s post assassination attempt statement that anyone supporting Trump “deserves to go down with him.”
One even says they “should tone it back for “PR.”

Finally, Alyssa Mercante, the deranged Kotaku writer who challenged people who don’t like DEI to a fight (which she immediately backed out of), compared the would-be assassin to a stormtrooper from Star Wars:
Did you tweet and delete these @Alyssa_Merc? pic.twitter.com/ImRr74ZOAL

Aside from what appears to be her disappointment that the shooter wasn’t more accurate, she’s making a joke about an incident where, although Trump wasn’t killed, another man was. I’m sure she doesn’t care about that, but normal people do.
I don’t know what will happen in any of these instances. Mark Hamill is pretty much retired, outside of any future Luke Skywalker appearances in Disney’s Star Wars projects, which, it was recently suggested, would make a big comeback. And Nightdive Studios is not as well-known as Jack Black or these other guys. Kotaku looks like it’s ready to collapse anyway, so Alyssa Mercante is likely on the same footing she’s been on for months. Mark Waid, well, he’s in an industry of people who love talking like this, and he tried to walk it back, so I don’t see any repercussions on the horizon. But this is a stark reminder of the world we now live in, one that may change soon but is still mired in a violence-seeking ideology that sees its political and philosophical opponents as inhuman and deserving of whatever they get. I talked about Mark Kern’s thoughtful analysis of this, and while I’d love to share his sentiments, takes like this stop me from being too hopeful.
My issue with the picture isn’t Ivanka and Jared, it’s their son; I don’t think it’s hard to leave a picture showing a kid celebrating Halloween alone. But that’s what they’re like now; they’re outright monsters. Seeing Hamill try to make a Star Wars analogy out of his politics is odd because he’s shilling for the side that controls the news media, entertainment, education, and government institutions. How is that the plucky Rebel Alliance fighting the evil Empire? What’s really funny is that 2016, 2020, and (hopefully) 2024 do kind of follow the structure of the Star Wars trilogy, just not the way he sees it.
Thank you very much, and thank you for commenting and reading these so often. We all greatly appreciate it.
The Stormtrooper one is unintentionally accurate. The Globalists, UN, WEF and NGO’s are very much like The Empire in that the want to bring down your standard of life to “own nothing and be happy” and will kill anyone who stands in Horari’s way of reducing everyone to sub-standard living conditions.
Grateful to Razorfist for pointing out Waid. I don’t follow comics that closely anymore, but Daredevil is notorious for having great writers. Interesting that Waid didn’t make the cut.
To be fair to Mark Hamill, the guy is just selfish, and tried to abort his own grandchild. He just got lucky to be at the right place at the right time and star in a classic while still in his youth. What he won’t tell you is that he would never get that opportunity today, under the BlackRock Larry Fink conditions of DEI and ESG.
Mark Hamill’s crack at the NRA falls flat because it’s very clear now while the left and Democrats want Americans disarmed. They coverup for mass shooters. They do not release statements that mass shooters have made and their judges seal that information. The celebrate shootings of their ideological opponents which is the VERY reason that Americans should have a 2nd Amendment because imported cartels and gangs are going to be used against the REAL American population.
As for Mark Hamill calling Ivanka and Jared a fraud, well, perhaps, but one word doesn’t really get into why he says they are frauds, so even in that comment, it’s not informative and thus, he’s a bit of a wimp there. Make your case, Mark. One could counter with it takes one to know one. Hamill got through life mainly by making silly voices. Outside of Luke, he really had no notable roles and he only has himself to blame for smashing up his face in a motorcycle accident.
