Well, I have mixed feelings. I must admit that the visuals, music, and personalities of Aang, Zuko, Katara, and Sokka appear to be on point. I cringed at “I’m the Avatar, and I’m going to save the world with my friends,” though; that’s just something that didn’t need to be said out loud. I still think a live-action Avatar series shouldn’t be made, but this trailer is more promising than anything else Netflix has shown from it yet. I also noticed the use of the Agni Kai, Sun Warrior, and Avatar themes. I didn’t realize they had the rights to the show’s original score; that’s interesting. I wonder who speaks to Aang at the beginning about how the world needs him. It sounds like it could be Avatar Roku or Monk Gyatso, but there are a few possibilities. I won’t get excited for this show as a matter of principle because it just shouldn’t exist. But it’s hard to argue with this clip.
