Variety reports that Netflix has renewed its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender for its second and third seasons, the third being its final season. The show is run by Albert Kim and stars Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio Tarbell, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee. Takeshi Furukawa scores the series, which debuted on Netflix on February 22, 2024. The live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender will follow the same three-season structure as the beloved animated original. Avatar: The Last Airbender follows Aang, the last of a massacred race with the ability to control the air. As the Avatar, Aang can manipulate all four elements and bring balance to the world.
I don’t feel too strongly about this news. It makes sense to continue the show this way, as that’s how the source material did it. I enjoyed this season of the live-action remake a lot more than I expected. Basically, I assumed it would be absolute trash, but they got some things right. Other aspects fell flat, and it’s possible continuing seasons could improve those facets of the show. I’ll keep watching it out of curiosity and because I didn’t hate season 1.
But what do you think about Netflix continuing its live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender remake? Let us know in the comments!
